I'm doing clear artwork of all the unreleased and beta Pokemon that I know, trying to stay true to their original designs, like this ones:
I'd like Honoguma to have an American name, but making a true traduction of his japanese name, it would be Flamebear, others refer to it as Flarechu or Pikaflare, due to his close resemblance to Pikachu. But the truth is, while other Pikachu look alikes, Honoguma is not a rodent, it's a bear.
Some speculate this was the early version of Teddiursa, but I really don't think so, because Honoguma was supposed to be the fire starter, so I think this was a completely 'new' design, unrelated to any Pokemon we know.
I came up with Honoguma's shiny form too.

Honoguma is awesome! but I don't really like fire starters that much besides Torchic and Charmander

I want to, but usually when I have an idea for a comic that has an actual plot/storyline, it completely falls through. Or I'm too lazy to finish.
I really do want to though.
I already have an idea for Honoguma's trainer (based on me). Her name is Haru, and she has a Honoguma named Cookie (haven't decided the gender yet), a female Cyndaquil named Cake, and a female Mareep named Cream at the begining.

wow, looking at some of the early pokemon concept art makes me realize how terrible the artists were who designed them. That treeco concept page looks like a 10 year old drew it...

Yes they were kind of simple, but I think some new Pokemon from the past gens are worse.
Thank God some designs from the start did not made it to the final cut, like that gorilla with a baseball hat.

I really your interpretation, it's more realistic with more details than the only *official* artwork.
Haha I really love the shiny form! It would be interesting if we all gather up and design it's evolutions someday!

Yeah! I decided to add some details to it, without screwing the original concept.
Thanks, I was going to color it blue but this color seemed to fit it well!

However you want, both ideas are great but we should start with official art and let's see if we collaborate good
