Description Acrylic painting on canvas. (60x80cm) (Inspired from popular-scientific article about genmanipulating vegetation into fluorescent streetlighting. I tend to forget time when hiking in the forest, and sometimes have a hard time finding my way back to sivilisation in the dark, so, a glowing forest would be practical, I think,...and nice.)

Thank you! I have a kind of weird relationship with this picture myself, as I painted on it regularly during almost three years, changing the color scheme several times.

Wow this is beautiful! Such striking colours and shading, really great depth. The shape and texture of those roots as well, you somehow made them pop out yet seem overgrown and tied down. And I love how the tree trunks are evenly spaced but the branches are chaotic. Bravo!

The cold blues give it a weird and surreal yet interesting feeling. CanΒ΄t see the crowns, but the details on the rest is mindblowing. Still it buggs me that IΒ΄m getting the feeling theyΒ΄re too close, which gives it an artifical air, like a treeschool...completely on the opposite ot the organic looks of the roots and such.

Reading your description, I see where my feelings came from...*usually reads it last, for trying to find the real spirit of the artwork first*

People should actually let nature do as she pleases. ItΒ΄s not like we arenΒ΄t part of it. So weΒ΄re all far off from being a "creator" or "god". I hope mankind will understand, before they destroy something irreplacable. Maybe thatΒ΄s why IΒ΄m always running to my favorite tree, when I feel like I need to cry or feel saddend over being such a dirty being as a human, who canΒ΄t even save one of his plant friends.

Some people only unerstand other humans, given theyΒ΄re thinking the same...but there can be "love" or "affection" between a man and an animal or a plant too, right?

Thanks for an insightful interpretation! I had 'tree-army' on my mind at times. (No class of mine have ever been positioned so orderly )

I agree, and try to do the same. A good movie will always be better if you don't know the plot in advance.

Concur! Though I am fascinated by the japanese gardens, where nature's very much is manipulated and controlled, but in a manner that mimics nature. That said, completely wilderness is priceless, and should be preserved for all costs. (Though, if I ever encounter a NATURAL glowing forest... That would be cool. )

Agree here as well, though I don't think my plants like me very much at all, as I involuntarily tend to torture them frequently by forgetting to water them.

Hehe, you donΒ΄t have to be good at watering or raising them to love or feel connected to plants, right? They appear in my dreams as my friends and guardians alot and I feel unhappy, when I have to stay in ashgrey blocks of cement for too long or canΒ΄t feel the wind on my face, carrying the smell of the woods or other plants. But even I mess up taking care of a cactus(weither too much or too little water), just to mention that.*chuckle*

A natural glowing forest, IΒ΄ve seen that in the Avtar Movie from James Cameron, really beautieful. Maybe you should take a look at that one.

True that!
(Good to hear that I'm not the only plant-murderer around.)

Seen it, and yeah, I drew the parallel too. Maybe he had seen my painting somewhere?

AshuraG In reply to N-o-B [2012-11-18 11:56:49 +0000 UTC]

Maybe...on the other hand, I guess there is alot people with similar "visions" they try to bring out in a creative way. So I guess Cameron is more like a spiritual sibling to you in that case, because you both had a similar idea.

ThatΒ΄s why many people hurry to create as much as possible, before some one else gets the credit, I guess. But it shouldnΒ΄t be like that, because too much of a rush might kill the artwork itself.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

N-o-B In reply to AshuraG [2012-11-18 13:56:11 +0000 UTC]

I suppose that might be the case.

Agree! On the other hand, I have seen many good ideas vanish, also my own, as I postpone the creation to achieve the greater skill I deem the challenge deserves. And then I either forget the idea as the 'spark' cools, or I discard the whole project when I discover another artist have beat me to the chase.

That might be why they appear friendly, as the case sometimes is with carnivorous plants, luring their prey in with sweet smell and nice colours, and then...chomp!

I know, but it is quite a big painting, and much use of heavy impasto strokes, so a larger/sharper image would at least reveal some of that, I think.

I don't even have that. As my Deviant ID explains, I was hoping my involvement here would suffice as participation in web societies.

I've very new to painting. The largest I've done is poster sized, and that was just a dabble piece from 2002. I've only just started working on canvas.

In person; up close and personal, is the only way to really view paintings.

As for DA being enough - with the way people are today, more is better. Great artists are getting lost in the bytes. If you have something to 'say', every venue is an opportunity to expand.

Best of luck to you. Keep on creating.

I agree! In situ is the proper way to view traditional art.

Sigh! I don't like it, but I know you're right. To achieve anything today, you'll have to shout out long and loud in every direction. Don't know if i'm that ambitious.

Thank you, and likewise! Good luck with your painting!

It's ok... I completely get it. I have a deep brain lesion, and a few other health problems, that makes thinking very difficult some day. So, I spend what time I do hang out on the web and post my work here.

You're in good company.

Besides, I'm a firm believer, if you have a destiny, doors will open for you. Those that are supposed to find you, will. But you must remember, most great artists weren't much until they died. Right now, we're just building product for future generations... probably not our own.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

N-o-B In reply to analillithbar [2012-04-27 15:16:46 +0000 UTC]

Sorry to hear about your health problems. It's a very valid point, internet and web societies have opened a lot of possibilities for personal enterprises and self-promotion. Better still, with the doors it opens for all those with different psychical or physical challenges, that otherwise wouldn't have had the same possibilities.

Haha! Yeah, I'm a fan of the thought of destiny myself. Que sera, sera. But I suspect a little more effort would've "helped destiny" from time to time, and got me further in the long run.

(Anyway, I have this clever plan of faking my own death in my fifty's, and through my family cash in on my all-of-a-sudden famous works. )

Eh... it is what it is. We all have shit.

It is true, the world and our true minuteness are palpable.

Destiny: God helps those who help themselves.

Literary Ends: Good luck with that "plan". I've found, what we think of the future and what actually happens, are two totally separate realities.

Have a great weekend.

True... from time to time, anyway...

Probably also true, about the futility in planning for the future, but on the other hand, that makes it easier to feel free in making some wild plans.

TY! A great weekend to you too!
