Description
This is, depending on how you look at it, either a spec art piece or a gift. I was thinking of it as a gift when I made it. What you see here is greatly reduced in size and resolution from the original. One of my first serious attempts at digital art, I first drew the component parts freehand. (The font I designed myself to look derived from Kufic.) After scanning, I tried to clean up the lines in new layers and then made the shading and shadows with ArcSoft's PhotoStudio 4 for Mac on a 600mhz iMac G3. I'm especially excited about how the brushed look of the lettering turned out since I had to do it without any short-cuts. The gemstone is also hand-drawn and then digitally colored and edited.

The title, Rag & Muffin, was the working title of a novel which, at the time this was started, was being written to be a comic series. The author's name is D. G. D.
