I have a question tho..how did you bake the clay without damaging the legs?

It is air-dry clay

So beautiful. What did you use to pain her body (and how did you manage to do it so the joints still work without rubbing the paint off or chipping it)? If you don't mind my asking. She's really gorgeous (and I think her feet gave me an idea for a Krogan I'm trying to make . . .)

eep - I just saw this! Thanks so much for the compliments I'm glad it gave you ideas ^_^ The body actually isn't painted - that is the normal Abby blue - I just mixed a blue as close as I could get it and faded it down onto the hooves. I think I might have sponged some white over the body but nothing solid enough that the joints would be bothered. I haven't yet found a good method for a full body paint that doesn't chip on the joints. To get the glitter off of her body I used very fine sandpaper and just gently rubbed until it was gone. The hooves and horn are made of air dry clay

My Octomaid is still available and I am hoping to have time to work on some more in the coming weeks I'm also open to the idea of doing commissions if it were ever to be of interest to you. Thanks muchly! -Briana

Is the horn magnetic? I love this doll Great job, how much time did it take you to make her?

Thanks so much The horn IS magnetic And I'm not sure exactly, quite a few hours I believe, I didn't really track it. She was done over several days, though, bit by bit :3

Would it be ok if someone played with this doll?

N3rdyGirl In reply to Monsterhigh4eva22 [2012-11-06 04:36:03 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you like her so much ^_^ sorry for the slight delay responding. She could be gently played with, yes. By an adult or a careful child with much supervision. The bottom portion of the legs are air-dry stone clay, so they would be the most delicate area.

The hair can be brushed, styled, etc. (I did some of this myself while working on her). The joints all still move, and her clothes could be changed You'd just have to be careful with the legs - I can't guarantee that any hard run-ins with the floor or such wouldn't result in breakage.

N3rdyGirl In reply to AnOwlatNoon [2012-06-19 00:58:00 +0000 UTC]

AAAH sorry I took so long to respond to this!! I used an air-drying stone clay called La Doll. It's very interesting to work with - you can let it partially try then reconstitute it with water, and you can sand and carve it once it's fully dry

and thanks for the compliment
