Space is where my heart is. And i aways follow my heart, so iΒ΄m really, really fond of doing spacescapes.

That's awesome. You did a fantastic job tying in the colours of the planets . I love the composition.

Great tones!

Grimwall [2006-04-16 13:48:54 +0000 UTC]

Im a fan of space art, but the semitransparent sun and obvious photoshop "cloud" filter ruins this one for me. The lighting also lacks life and depth. The typography could definately do with some more consideration, and overall more could be done to the textures of the planets (They're too low res for such a close up perspective). The night side of the smaller planet does not seem to be correctly applied either, the shadow should claw it's way much further up if the sun is where it is shown currently. Give it a try and make the atmospheres brighter or bluer as well, Im sure it will add more depth.

The good side however is that you have an ace backdrop and the ray effects of the sun works great. The only thing that could improve the backdrop would be to eliminate the "could" filter effect on that as well.

Thank you for your comment and advice

IΒ΄m thinking seriously about re-upload some of my old spacepics with some upgrades when i have some time, and this one will be included in my list.

looks really great
but if some advice is ok: maybe try to do the lens flare a bit smaller
i'd also do some more with the stars (they look a bit filter-rendered right now ...) ... if interested, check this out, there are really great space-tuts: [link]
so, hope it helped you ... and defenitly on a great way and hope seeing you aproving to make breath-taking space-pics ^^
oh, and i like the border

I like how we're almost on the planet, very close to them or something. I love blue so of course I like this. The only thing that bugs me a little is the planet on the left, I know the backside wouldn't be getting any light, but the way you have it, looks cloudy and weird, I dunno. Also, you seem to have a lot of the same view for these space scenes. Try some different perspectives and see what you get.

I love the background and the more red/brown planet. The lighting and the shadows are done very well! The only small isure I have is with the greenish planet. Now this is my issue, maybe not others. But for me, I dislike...the blue on the green planet. I mean it does make it look like clouds, but it just takes away from how amazing the scene is. But that is just me, you don't have to take what I said to heart! But still this is a great spacescape, better than mine have every been!

N7Dovahkiir In reply to mleannegibson [2005-12-30 20:29:40 +0000 UTC]

The blue youΒ΄re talking about is a cloud. My idea was to create these planets in a cloud.

Thanks for your comment and opinion

You are welcome ^_^. Well I got the part about the cloud right! Maybe you could blend it more, I don't know, because I am not that expiernced with space art. I've only dabbled a bit here and there.

I love the texture, light and shadow used on these... they're magnificent, they look like real photographs! However, I think it would look cool if the smaller planet was a little higher up... but that's just me
