Description

This was the first in a series of 'Pop Culture Hallucinations', an art project I began back in high school.

The prompt of this project was to distort pop culture icons so that they are both familiar and unknown. I wanted to emphasize the 'spider' of spider-man. Was I aware the writers already had that idea decades prior? Yes. Did I realize I was basically drawing Doppelganger, an established Marvel character, at the time? Yes. Did I abandon the idea and choose a more creative subject? Nope, and it won an award anyway.
