Cover art for "Air Song" by ponyphonic: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcMmrw…I wanted to draw an airship that was whimsical and impossible... but almost believable. The design is based on various driftwood art pieces I've seen in Oregon giftshops. It probably owes a lot to Treasure Planet as well.

And, in case you're wondering, the fans are blowing air down. They are not blowing air into the sails; that would be silly.

I absolutely love this, it fits with the song perfectly and really does look like it could fly if the air was just a bit thinner...
I'm making no promises here - I'm pretty good at taking months or years to finish a project - but I would love your permission to make a model of this. Hey, wanted to know what you think of the shape thusfar
I wanna tweak the tail fin and turbine rigging down below a bit, but I can't do that until I start putting together the tougher materials back there.

That's one of the nicest things about working in miniature, the materials themselves add a ton of structure. Technically, if you were to scale up what I'm making to the size it is in the picture, the hull of the ship would be about 24" thick.
