Umm, I'm not sure where it comes from - perhaps Russian? But we call it this way in Czech, too. Our languages are related, after all We call it both - either Irbis or "Snowy Leopard". I wasn't sure if it is known under that name in English as well, but I still went with it. I like it better

Yep, it's a great name. My language is related too, but the snow leopard is better known (as much as it's known at all) as "Bars" here, which is probably another Russian word. I actually like them both very much.

Yes, my father told me that name. Снежный барс, to be precise It's a well known name in Russia, as far as I know. Although apparently not as common as Irbis, still

Thank you very much It's actually quite easy to make the fur structure on a scratchboard, although you need the patience to scratch each hair separately. Fortunately, this picture is not that big...
