I have an account on fanfiction.com and am currently working on my first story. It's an Oblivion story...with a vampire main character....who has serious issues.
Basically, someone creates the setting of a story and a general storyline. This is posted and people who are interested create characters according to a character sheet provided by the creator. When the character is accepted you just write what that character does and who he or she interacts with.
My favorite character would be my 'little' vampire Kamui. He's a very old vampire, dating back to the time that the first vampire Caine was still young. He has no real care for humanity and only a thin layer of common sense keeps him from giving in to his bloodthirst.

mmm....I am not a huge fan of FF.net. I acknowledge its necessity, but that site has awful maintenance policies when it comes to screw-ups like flames, plagiarism, stories randomly getting deleted, AWFUL writing, blah, blah, blah. Too bad it's the only place you get most of the fanfiction in the entire world.

Have you read Noblesse, by the way? It's a Korean Manhwa, published as a free web comic every Tuesday....and it is freaking awesome in how the vampires are portrayed there! Mangafox.com hosts the scanlation.

Hm? I never had trouble with it. Reading goes just fine and if your story's good enough (aka, no extreme grammar/spelling errors and or plotless story) you won't have any flamers.

Yeah...I've found some amazing stuff over there, too..starting with Resmiranda! But the crux of the matter is, to find the good stuff you need to trawl through truckloads of slush...and THAT is time-consuming and sucky! Not too mention, too many minors trying to write lemons...ugh.

They're usually easy to find though. Look for the oneshots that have less than a 1000 words
Basically, an RPG game is a game that takes place in a big world. You have a main storyline to go through, but you can do this whenever you feel like it. There are tons of sidequests to do and you can explore a very big world
