I think to me it looks like a hug - the shoulder of an adult... I think
I love the way you can't know if the child is leaning on the other person, or being leaned on. Maybe it's a bit of both

every one will take it to his own interpretation.
for me it's something from childhood, from things we did, things we didn't do, things we learned, things we feel from day one. some times those thoughts puts us on the ground when we really need it.
