I like this pose and the shape of the horse's star. ♥

What that person below said about using a coloring book to focus on colors all day without having to draw something to color is a great idea, though using color effects is a personal style choice.

Thank you! She's probably one of the most creative characters I have ever designed.

I did practice some coloring, but I never uploaded them here. It would be a good exercise for me to work on more though.

You don't have to upload every single thing you do.  Some people are afraid to practice things they have trouble with because they know it'll turn out awful/embarrassing, but that's okay!  Just throw it away when you're done, nobody has to see it. c:

There are a lot of different things you can do with colors, there's endless styles and options to pick from and it has a larger effect on your picture than lines/angles/anything else.  Color is one of the main things I'm focusing on lately, it's something I really want to get into.

Practice makes perfect, but that doesn't mean your practice will be perfect.

Hmmm...I had never considered the different color options as styles. That puts a whole new spin on it! I am going to have to think about how I can work on improving my traditional art and especially my digital art in those terms. So many possibilities...

Oh yes, you can do a lot with color.  Even pure black/white grey-scale is a color style.  You can do the whole picture all in shades of blue if you want.  You can use realistic colors, or colors that represent feelings (lots of fiery red/orange/yellow tones for an energetic angry explosive look, etc).  You can use lighting styles, like bright sunny shiny glowy pictures or dark shadowy mysterious scenes.  You can use low-saturation, dull, soft, quiet colors or bright neon eye-popping colors.  All kinds of things.

Since we have been talking I have written quite the to-do list of things I want to work on or experiment with! So many things to try and so little time to do it with!

Goodie   I have to make lists too because I have so much stuff in my drawings that I can't remember it all I get so mad when I finish something and upload it and then realize I forgot the glow/sparkle effects on the fox or that I didn't set the bases up in advance so I could use colored shading, etc.

You have raw talent to spare. Now it's time to focus it. You can draw and you can recognize shadows (both shape and opacity). Now it's time for you to tackle color!

I want you to get a coloring book to practice. Work on blending colors together to create new tones for the shadows and light. For example the green jacket in this pic. It could use a hint if purple int he shadows and a whisper of yellow/cream in the highlights.

With the coloring book you won't have to work on what you already know (drawing) but can focus on the coloring. Also, it's just an exercise to help you improve. So relax and have fun! Get crazy, try different colors! Look at my newer work. I use tons of yellow, purple, blue and red in things that are not normally that color.
