Description HUGE HUGE HUGE FILE.

It's a very Basic and simple little Guide.

Basicly helps you figure out your settings,
that will enable you to make pretty photo's with small compact cams.

I did my best not to use and strange pro photographer words. That could confuse you.
But i guess cameras and their settings will always confuse you when your new to it.

hope it will help people :"D

I just wanted to say that this is one hell of a guide, and it will definitely be useful for when I get a cam with good stuff like aperture and shutter speed. ^^
Thank you so much.

xD Buttons are in many different places, And some features shown on yours are different. XD; *points at rather bulky camera.* XD

Naiara-photobook In reply to MeTem [2009-02-02 01:21:24 +0000 UTC]

yes, but with the cam manual you should be able to locate these settings and use them in roughly the same manner.

Knowing that these settings are on you cam.. is a huge step.
Finding them is a matter of..pushing buttons XB

I used to have a Fuji s5600 so i know exactly the menu display you have ;'D
And shutterspeed is set on m in the same way and apature by pushing the -/+ button + pushing the arrows up and down.
Unless they added another button to lower or up a setting ^__^"

Is should be under the button with the rater large F ... or it was wb..or it is both,
i think wb was under the menu button.

*cracks her brains...*

A friend of mine has a new Fuji finepix S series, so i might ask her to take it to school this week so i can make another tutorial..
and one of a DSLR as well.

I've got a Canon SD850, and even though I don't think it has aperature and shutter speed settings (drat!) this definitely helped me out a lot with white balance, ISO and how to use my macro. Thanks! ^^

Yeah, they definitely helped and I didn't know how to use them before. ^^ I was practicing with one of those little wooden models you use to help with drawing since I don't have a doll yet. xD

My dsc-w150 doesn't have the option of manually change the shutterspeed or at least i can't find it.. .. (huge letdown...).. does any firmware update may include this option ? any other way to change my shutterspeed by using the pre-set modes (i assume some of them change the shutterspeed ..)

Am i asking too much from my little cam ?
Great tut !

well some camera's do some don't.
It might be a software update will help..
but im afraid it wont change much to what you can set and not.

But you can always try.

I will make a what to check when buying a basic camera guide next time XB
So peeps know what to look for when buying a new one.

it helps a LOT!!
though now i'm wondering... my sony cybershot does have the +/- setting, but... i always thought it was just meant to make photos darker/lighter XD;;; now i wonder it it's apperture/shutter speed o.o; i never noticed these differences you mentioned in my photos o.o; (or maybe i'm a super newbie >.>;;;;; *gets kicked*)

anyway, thanks for the guide \o/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Naiara-photobook In reply to nallNecolle [2008-12-27 17:44:11 +0000 UTC]

+/- normaly is used to make your cam monitor lighter or darker..
>_< dont change that setting.. because the picture will be darker or lighter when you put it on you computer.

It is only when you have it on M setting and can set A+ SS [lol making it shorts now] that you can use it to switch between the two.

But now you know what it means you might be able to find it on your cam [lol you know sorta where to look now]

nallNecolle In reply to Naiara-photobook [2008-12-28 01:38:00 +0000 UTC]

I searched and searched, and I think my camera doesn't have the option to change apperture/shutter speed manually XD;;;
From what I could guess, it changes depending on the photo, automatically.
Oh well XD
But thanks anyway! It helped me to understand better my cam! XD

Naiara-photobook In reply to nallNecolle [2008-12-28 21:16:12 +0000 UTC]

yeah most newer camera's have them auto now o---o.

Kinda confuses me..you see i now have the a590 and the newer version doesnt have it eather..while it's about twice the price this one is.
I looked at all the stats and.. the only differenc on the cams i found was the sensor which was 0,42 insteas of 0,4 and 9.0 MPixels instead of 8 .. [and if your not gonna print wall size this doesn't really matter]

I guess the companies decided it was all useless fancy stuff that random grand parents won't use anyway D::::"

nallNecolle In reply to Naiara-photobook [2008-12-29 00:19:17 +0000 UTC]

That REALLY doesn't make any sense!
If it's a newer version, they shouldn't take out these kind of configs D=

Indeed, they must think it's way too confusing for the poor grandparents D=
(that, or they really want us to go for the $professional$ stuff only )
