Description Yush. I was offline because I was working on this for you, *forever-foresaken . eue Sorry about that.
I've been meaning to draw you something since...the last time I drew you something. Of course I had to draw your Azn character (whose name I don't know).


Ah yes, it's been far too long, watercolors! I haven't painted since over 6 months ago! It is still my favorite media. I worked on my style of painting, and decided that when I paint I will just use pencils instead of inking. XD

This painting was refreshing for me. I was inspired by forever-foresaken's way of doing art; I chose to be more "free" with the drawing instead of being overly critical of anatomy and such. I did what came into mind. c: Hence there are quite a few more mistakes than usual, but it doesn't matter too much for this picture.
Her character is a sorceress, I believe. An ancient Asian sorceress. I added pots of magic smoke stuff. (Got to finally use salt on the paint. Fabulous.) Derp.

I hope you like it... I really wanted to show my appreciation for you being...so Genghis. You use more of your brain than most people do, you are true to yourself, and...you are far more sincere and compassionate than people give you credit for. You ain't as tough as you look, hmp! Graceful bodies of water, my friend. But my use of words, as I said time and time again, fails you.

Elegant and stylish watercolor work right here. I realy admire the unique play of color on parts of this picture.
I love how serene and calm the sorceress looks, which is well displayed by her content smile, the single tone of color and the symmetrical composition. In contrast, the very vivid colors of the "magic smoke stuff" ( ) does, instead of dragging the viewer's eyes out of the main focus, gives the center of the picture that feel of space and a bit of a border, bring the focus to the lady even more, in my opinion.
I also love the use of salt here that makes for that interesting effect in the colors.^^ Beautiful work!

I really appreciate your comment! I am happy the sorceress' expression came through correctly, as well as how the magic smoke stuff brought her into focus. I was afraid what affect those bold colors would have, but now I feel reassured.

Nah, it's alright. Really.
That's how I felt like when I was very little. I thought it was easier compared to other forms of painting. They're all pretty difficult.

This is totally blowing my mind, Naiko! Will you NEVER cease to surprise me with the variety of styles and medias you can use?

I absolutely love this! The colors of the paper and the beautiful sketchy style of the character make this look so meaningful and artistic! (If that makes any sense. And not to say that your other art isn't like that either.) The posture of expression of the character give this the perfect feeling of "ancient Asia." Which I what I assume you were going for, since that's the character's origin.
Then there's that bright blue and purple smoke! It just adds that fantastic splash of color that the picture needed to make it juuust right! (So were you saying in the description that you used salt in the paints to get those crystal-like effects? If so, that totally awesome and I might have to use that myself sometime! )
Wonderful job, my friend! I can see that the recipient of this totally loved the gift, but how could you expect otherwise?

No worries, that made perfect sense. This style is rather fun, so I plan to make more watercolor paintings in the future. XD I'm glad the ancient Asia theme was detectable!
I'm so happy you like the smokes! Yes, I felt the splash of color seemed necessary. (That's right! I sprinkled a little bit of salt on the smokes when the paint was wet. You definitely should try that next time you paint, I'd love to see that. c: )

That's what I aim for! I'd rather be a good supportive friend than the most fantastic artist on dA with no real friends, you know? So for the billionth time, think nothing of it!
Oh yes, very detectable! In fact, when I looked at this I think the ancient Asian theme jumped up and slapped me right in the face!
Who doesn't just love a splash of color to an otherwise monotone picture? It always adds a great feeling! (I certainly shall! I rarely use watercolors, but I'll try to remember that trick!)

Brb,dying from happiness.XD OH CRAP,SON.I DID NOT EXPECT YOU TO TAKE THE TAKE TO GO OFFLINE AND EVERYTHING JUST TO WORK ON SOMETHING FOR ME.THAT'S SERIOUSLY THE NICEST CRAP THAT ANYONE HAS DONE FOR ME SINCE...EVER.I'M NOT JUST SAYING THAT EITHER.THIS DRAW.....is by far one of my favourite gifts that I've ever received some someone.Ohhh my god... I don't even know where to start,but I guess before I totally spazz out again,I love how you did her face so much and how you added the slight shading to indicate that she is older.Not old.Just older...in a very pretty way.eue Her face here= perfect~!You made her hair look great too with the extremely neat highlights. The shading makes me proud of you too,you know,and it does a nice effect on the clothing and her face(herpderp).When I look closely at the pencil strokes,from what I see....you added all of those details in her clothing...the way I'd most prefer.
Yo.I even love the cracked pots in the background along with the colors.You know how I feel about the orangey shade...so nostalgic which is perfect here.The blue smoke and purple(with a hint of red) smoke are even appealing to me in this drawing,especially seeing that you used a classic watercolor technique to make it speckled.I want to say more,but I'm spazzing out too much.
