Description Look who showed up?
My computer burned down a while ago and I haven't been able to post anymore since. However, I found a very old drawing and decided to create a text about my version of the headcanon and post it. Just to cheer me up. ^v^
The quality of the photo is not good, but I will fix and scan as soon as possible. For now, enjoy the text. Bye ~×

Vitani ran into the savanna. So fast she could feel her heart thudding in the soles of her paws as they hit the ground hard. As she walked back to Pridelands, alone, a cry for help made her change course.
When she reached the open field, she could see where he had come from: Kopa was helping some meerkat cubs out of the nearby river.
As everyone looked fine, Vitani stopped breathless and watched as the lion received the thanks and walked calmly towards her, though he was aiming at Priderock, of course.

Kopa, was the firstborn of Simba who had abandoned everything to travel in search of adventures and returned recently. Since then, when he wasn't being pampered by the lionesses who did their best for his attention, he'd wandered around the realm meddling in tasks that were the responsibility of other members of the pride and that included Vitani and the lion guard.
The young leader was trying to keep calm with a lot of effort and grit her teeth, as she and her friends were newly ex-exiles and it would not do well to strangle and hide the body of the king's son. But, this was becoming more and more difficult to tolerate.
Once Kopa's audacity had been such that he managed to convince the other members of the guard to disobey one of his orders. Okay, that she had sent them in the wrong direction, but that's beside the point...

Kopa: - ... Hi! Did you hear what I said? -Vitani emerged from her thoughts and realized that Kopa was standing right in front of her. - You've been standing staring at me for some time. Something happened?

Vitani: - No... Actually, yes. I've wanted to tell you something.

Kopa: - Then say, "beautiful-blue-eyes".

Vitani: - You shouldn't have performed that rescue.

Kopa: - How? - Said really surprised by the harshness of the lioness.

Vitani: - Look, you saved them and I'm very grateful. However, you have been involved in numerous guard duties since you arrived and that is not correct.

Kopa: - They needed help and I helped them. Whether you approve of my attitude or not is irrelevant. Look on the bright side, I did your job and now you can go for a walk with your little friends. Cool, huh? - He said smiling with a tone of condescension.

A severe silence as the prince stared steadily at Vitani. Was it her impression or did he disdain her work, her colleagues and was now expecting a thank you?
The answer to this question did not take long:

Kopa: - The words you are looking for are: thank you.

Vitani: - Thank you?! - (Yes, he wanted her to thank him).

Kopa: - It was not a big deal, baby.

The young prince gave she a wink and had already started to walk away when Vitani, now more than furious, blocked his path again.

Vitani: - You want to know? The truth is that I have been patient, because even if you are a spoiled braggart, who abandoned your kingdom, failed as a nomad and returned in search of your mother, you are still the king's son and I owe you some .. huh .. .respect. But, I will no longer accept that you meddle, because if you fail I will be held responsible. I am the leader of the guard and it is up to me to take care of the threatened lives of Pridelands, not you!

Kopa: - Do you want to talk about "truths"? Well, here's the truth: you and your friends aren't heroes or anything. The Lion Guard was a facade allegory created to give the herds the (not so wrong) illusion that they are safer in Pridelands than out there. You prevent "the meat" from dying prematurely in an accident, limit the amount of meat other predators can eat using the "balance" excuse, and keep out herd thieves. This way, the herds do not disperse and we guarantee that we will have plenty of food available throughout the year, without having to migrate after it like other lions.
Make no mistake, blue eyes: the wildebeest you save by day is in your king's mouth at night. And that's the truth.

------------ ------------ ------------ ------------ ------------

Modesty aside, I love this dialogue between Vitani and Kopa.
And the personality of "my Kopa" is something I've been striving to develop. He's know-it-all, has a bitter, anarchist outlook on life and a well-developed ego. Having renounced the throne and been away for a long time, he doesn't know where to fit in and so he keeps meddling in everyone's tasks in the kingdom.
Vitani, on the other hand, doesn't know how to fit in well in his new home either, so he held tight to his post in the lion guard. What if Simba decides Kopa would be a better choice for leader of the guard?
Many pride lions are still quite prejudiced and it's already been difficult for her and the other ex-exiles to earn respect with her titles.

I can't wait to find out how the Najma of the future will manage to bring these two together...
