This movie features very old footage up to WWII, in 8mm, 16mm, Hi8, VHS, DV and streaming web clips.

Ok. So here we go. This is my first short movie. It is actually 6 month anterior to D*Tours.

It's been troublesome for me to post it, for it's linked closely to my mother's passing away.

Althout it has been having a very interesting life.

It starts with a deviation of the iconic scene of Shinji's self dialogue in the 17th episode of Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Originally I was supposed to film my own death underwater in a diving accident, but since last year I contracted pneumonia from overworking in shootings during this project, I couldn't act nor film the scene. I have been setup by the owner of that underwater studio [link] which is supposed to be world's deepest pool. Which means what, that scene was never shot.

So, instead I shot myself in my room, though with a very nice setup, thanks to Emmanuel, with a 35mm mini equipped DVX-100. We actually show the spinning mirror in that scene, for it suits the style of the video or so was our opinion at the time.

During the production, strange things happened, basically my harddrive where the original documents and videos were stored crashed, which means that I can't edit this final result without re-capturing all of the 8mm - 16mm and VHS footage that is used in this project. Nor can I change the subtitling (ideas welcome, though) which I'm sorry for. So I like to think this is how my mother would have liked the project to remain, i.e. a Japanese o.v. which is French subtitled. I guess it's this film's curse. At least it doesn't leaves the spirits unaffected, which is already something .

So then, I was working backstage at that film festival, and I was chosen to replace a translator for an interview of a Japanese actor and two producers. Guess who? Yes. One of Evangelion's producers. Of course he asked me a copy of this work, which I handed him in quite an embarassment, which I guess you can guess why if you know this series enough like I do. LOL. He has a copy of D*Tours, too, and a copy of another short, which is of a totally different brand of mine, ArthurFilms. May post a few of these shorts here. Not sure though ^^

That's where 'There's a Snake in my Yard' is coming from, and I hope to get bold enough to post it here laters, when I finally finish postproduction on it. I hope to post that one one day.

Anyway. Enjoy, though I ask you for mild comments due to the respect this piece is due to my mother's dedicacy.
