An european Paper Wasp enjoying some nectar they love to sit on our old wooden balcony too and get some material for their nests
Paper Wasps are much more tolerant of people and minor disturbances than are hornets and german wasps & yellow jackets!
Be aware that this wasp is a excellent predator of many pest insects.
So, while they may be annoying at times they are probably doing your garden and landscape a lot of good!
I had first problems ID-ing her as I couldnt find wasps with that specific markings and the brown antennaes.

Odd fact but I heard a few years ago that paper wasps are an endangered species... not sure if it's true or not.

I absolutley hate wasps but this photo makes her seem serene and non threatening. Makes me almost forget my obsessive fear. Almost. Lol.

wasps are not as agressive as most wasps are
as long as you dont hectically move arround,
they more or less ignore you, even when you
get very close

but this species is pretty serene. opposite
to the common wasps
