Description This is the tattoo I'll be getting at the end of the summer. I was originally going to get it on the top of my left foot, but after reading how much harder it is to care for a foot tattoo (especially in northern Canada!!), and that the ink fades and bleeds more easily, I've changed to location to the outer back of my left ankle, right above the joint.

I've been visualizing this one for years now, and it's finally come to fruition.

The purple butterfly symbolizes my grandfather on my mother's side, whose favourite colour was purple, and who loved butterflies. Shortly after my grandfather died, my mom was gardening while thinking about him, when a small butterfly landed on her, and didn't go away until she felt better. Incidentally, butterflies are often used to symbolize rebirth after death in literature and art.

The blue rose symbolizes my grandfather on my father's side, whose favourite colour was blue, like me. At his funeral, we laid blue roses on his coffin. He basically raised me when I was little. He would always play whatever game I wanted, and he would sit without complaint whilst I brushed his hair and put "pretties" in it; I loved him dearly.

I basically looked at a whole bunch of other tattoos on the net for reference, and designed/airbrushed the actual tattoo itself with Photoshop. I'm hoping that the artist can make it look less...cartoony when it's actually being done. My friend assures me that the guy doing it will be able to make it more realistic (as he did with hers), and I'm trusting that it'll all work out. My only fear about this isn't the pain, it's that somehow it'll get screwed up and I'll be sporting a tattoo I hate for the rest of my life!

Any feedback would be appreciated
