Contest prize for ~Spiritual-Dawn from the Magic Within contest. <3O_o omg. dark colored characters are suddenly really difficult for me to manip lately without going back in and manually drawing the fur texture by hand. Jeez! I used to be able to just change the color without problem (or maybe it was that I selected black/dark wolf stock to start with... *cant remember* ) Lol. But that's okay. It turned out nice I think and I haven't been manipping for a bit so it was fun to get back in the groove.

awe! <3 just keep practicing! Usually I try to always start with white wolves or gray/tan wolves if they don't have strong markings. Then I adjust the saturation and levels to take out the browns so I can add in the colors I want. The best thing to do is to try not to mess with the fur to much and keep the original texture. I love natural looking fur.

I usually paint on the new colors over top on a new layer and change the layer mode. There's a tutorial in my gallery on fur coloring too.
