Description
BEEP BEEP BEEP
"UGH!"
I slammed my small, pale hand down on the damned alarm clock. I tilted the clock down so I could see the time, 3:00 A.M. "I must be mad to get up so early" I thought quietly to myself as I started to fall back asleep. My long black hair had just hit the pillow when my door was almost broken in. I jumped out of my bed, but slipped and hit the floor hard.
"OOOOOOOWWWW!"
I throw my head up at the stupid man standing before me. He was a normal person that is the easiest way to describe him. He had long, I mean like floor length long, sky blue hair tied in a loose ponytail, slightly pointy ears, sharp teeth, and narrow but wide crystal clear eyes. To any normal person, he would look like a cosplayer. He stepped towards me, squatted and starting pulling me up.
"You are such… such a…" I know the word but if I said it I would have to repent for at least an hour, and I didn't have time for that.
"An ass? Oh, if you think such dark thoughts, what would your father do?" He smiled as he spoke, enjoying it as always. I stood up and pushed my hair out of my sea green eyes. He always said stuff like that but, I never got his meaning. My father was dead and I never know him, so I just replied like always,
"I know that! I just wish I could some of the words sometime." I folded my arms, pouting as usual. I turned towards the window, pushed the blue curtains out of the way, opened the window and drew a deep breath. The sea, the sky, the Earth. All I could ask for and wanted. Then man came and leaned out the window next to me.
"Every morning, what is so special about it all, hmm?" He pushed a stray lock of hair out of my way. He could never understand, I mean he is an idiot, no more than an idiot a- Wait, there was something important this morning wasn't there? I went to my desk and scanned over it, finding the Scholarship letter to True Cross Academy.
"AH!" I screamed as I started to lose my PJ's, turned to the man and kicked him out. I quickly slipped on the school uniform and ran downstairs to make breakfast. The stupid man was laughing as I quickly threw together two omelets. I twisted in rage towards him.
"Make yourself useful and get my bag ready! I can't afford to be late, at all!" What is that smell? I sniffed the air as I slowly faced my omelets, already burnt.
"AHH!" I throw the pan in the sink and the omelets out the window.
"HAHAHA! MY GOD! HAHA!" He paused for a second, "HAHA! ME, SAYING MY GOD? HAHAH!" He was rolling on the floor now. I was over him before he could stop me, he wiped a tear him his eyes prior to seeing my fury. He slipped out from under me and popped up in front of the stove wearing an apron. He bowed because he didn't want to make me madder.
"I shall humbly make you breakfast, my princess." He winked as I flushed in embarrassment and slight anger. I ran up my stairs again, tripping once, to go get my bag packed with the last of my things. The rest of the little I had had already been sent to the school. My clothes, toiletries and accessories were shoved into a bag. The last things were the curtains, the key necklace I was given, and the only photo of my mother. She and I looked nothing like except for our sea eyes, and personality. So I have been told by my grandmother before she passed. I carefully folded the photo and put it into my bracelet, leaving her face showing; smiling elegantly. I tossed the necklace into the air and caught it on my head, and forced it to slide down to my neck.
"Princess, your breakfast is ready!" I heard the clacking of plates as they were set on the table and answered as I grabbed my bag.
"Coming!" I grabbed my cow sized bag and closed the window for the last time. I was humming and skipping down the stairs when, the klutz I am, slipped down the stairs again. I threw my bag to the bottom to try to break my fall.
"HELP!" My nature reaction is to curl into a ball, to maybe make the fall not so bad. "God, she can't survive without someone watching her at all times, can she?" The strange man left the food and raced to save her, like he did at least once every week. He raced towards her with inhuman speed. He flew up the steps, grabbed her and the banister to support them both. I opened my eyes to see him in my face pucker his lips. I shoved out of his grasp and stood above him. I looked down on him,
"First, thank you and second, Just what do you think you were about to do?" I asked in what I hoped to be a threatening tone. I raised an eyebrow as he rubbed the back of head and tried to look innocent.
"My princess, are you accusing me of foul play?"
"Yes" Blunt answer, like always.
"I was merely making sure you were breathing. You know that sometimes the shock makes you lose your breathe." His eyes shifted towards the food and pointed at the clock,
"I don't believe you have time for this this morning, hmm princess?" The clock read 10 'till 4:00.
"Crap!" I pulled him along will me to the table, scarfed down the food, grabbed my bag and headed out. He put a hand on my shoulder before I left. He turned me and his face grew serious.
"I can't go will you but, I will always be around and be there when you need me. I will appear only after you have decided if you want to learn about your mother. The only way to learn is to use the key, only use it if someone you care about could be killed, promise me that princess. You will know how to use it when the time comes."
I knew he was serious and I wanted to ask him so many questions but, I had no time so I just nodded in agreement.
"I promise. Now I have to go, or else I'll be late for my first day of Exorcist school. See you later, Caelum Custos*!" I waved cheerfully before leaving my house for the last time. The man closed the door and went up in a pouf of smoke, revealing a blue parrot.
"I promise I won't let anything happen to you, princess. No, not princess, Amaterasu*" The bird flew out the window after the girl.
6:00 A.M. JUST ENTERING THE TRUE CROSS ACADEMY GATES
"This place is HUGE!" Huge is a big understatement of this school. No, not just the school but, the town the school was in. Every building looked like it was built on top of one another, and It looked like an ENORMOUS maze. I saw a shadow fly over head; a blue bird landed just in front of me. It crocked its head sideways as if it was asking me who I was. I bent over and placed my hand a few inches in front of it, beckoning it. I smiled,
"I promise I won't hurt you." The bird flew onto my shoulder and rubbed its head against mine. I laughed,
"That tickles, Aoi." The bird opened its beak,
"Aoi, Aoi."
I stood shocked and realized the bird was a parrot. I started to walk to the school and talked to the bird. Little did I know that right than my life would change forever, I had three choices. All ending in a different love but, the same fate and same journey.
