This is really well done and at first I thought it was Mattie looking at a picture a Kat but nope he's smoking.
But I still think he has a picture of her in his helmet for good luck and for motivation to come home safe.

No problem. I also feel that Kat is waiting at the train station, hoping to see her love. She sees soldiers running to her loved ones but no Mattie. Then she looks over and see's him, calls his name, and runs to him. He looks up and he starts running to her. They finally reunite,embracing each other with a tender. For months they waited fearing that they would never see each other again was fading away.
