Actually I wanted to save it for later, but I just stumbled across this picture and so I have to introduce you to another artist I enjoy very much, for today's theme couldn't match more.The musician Yann Tiersen.
Yann Tiersen is a young french composer and musician, and it's no exaggeration when I say - he's a virtuoso.
I never saw anyone playing the violin like him. He masters the piano with the same grandeur, but also some outrageous instruments, like accordion, mandolin, melodica and banjo. He's an one-man-orchestra in most of his publications, he greatest part of them instrumental only.
You may have heard soe of his works on the soundtrack of the movie 'Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain' or 'Goodbye Lenin'.

Yann Tiersen is exceptional by any means, his compositions are sheer beauty, his play is natural as breathing, but he's not an Anne-Sophie Mutter at all, it's incredible impulsive at the same time. Take the time and watch him work. [link]

I changed my mind. I seriously thought about what he could possibly be playing and I finally got it: Fur Elise. It's sweet and contemporary with a hint of sadness, just like Riku. It's perfect for him. :3

This reminds me of the fanfiction Complexes . In it Riku plays piano and Sora dances ballet. I love the chain around your neck, it's a unique touch. ^^

And yeah, Yann Tiersen is absolutely fantastic! He is able to convey so many things with very simple melodies, and make use of so many instruments... It might be one of the very few present French musicians I am proud of!

To musicians, this definitely speaks--you actually get the expression right that any composer or performer feels when they're right about to play. Very, very unique--I've never seen anyone do that nearly as well. As a pianist and a clarinetist, I'm most definitely affected

Endlich weiß ich wie der Musiker heißt, der die beiden Klavierstücke L'Absente und L'après-midi immer so schön und traurig spielt! Danke, jetzt kann ich mir endlich die CD kaufen und sie so lange anhören wie ich will. Du bist ein Schatz!
Zum Foto: Anmutig und wunderschön wie immer und ich kann mir so richtig vorstellen wie Riku die beiden oben genannten Lieder auf dem Klavier/Piano spielt. Diese Lieder passen nämlich perfekt, weil sie schön und auch ein wenig traurig sind. *totalinsschwärmengerät*

Thank you for featuring this artist! I'm always wishing I knew more purely instrumental composers, and he is... wow, nothing short of wonderful. It brings me back to when I used to play (I'm sadly much less musical these days), somehow he has captured just that feeling of music that can be ever so elusive. Thank you! I will most definitely look into Yann Tiersen a bit more. ^^
This photo is lovely. The lighting is just right- like a candle, but still luminescent shining black... I don't know how to put it exactly, but I love it. You look so completely involved (and I will admit, the only thing I love more than playing music is watching it being played by someone who can feel the music as they play it), it's a beautiful moment. ^^ Thank you for sharing.

Oh! Oh, so beautiful! There's nothing like a piano for class. <3 So elegant and dreamy. The lighting gives it a nice effect. Makes me think of glittering piano bars, women in long sparkly dresses, elegantly dressed patrons chatting lazily behind the clink of glasses and strains of piano music...

You play the piano AND you like classical music................ You just scored major brownie points with me. I'm not even kidding.
If that guy is as great as you say he is, then I'll definitely look into him. I personally enjoy Joe Hisashi's work. He did movies like Howl's Moving Castle, (that soundtrack is my crack) Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and others. I also like John Williams. His work on the Memoirs of a Geisha soundtrack never ceases to blow my mind. Don't even get me started on the Star Wars soundtracks. XD
Hmm, I just realized that I like a lot of soundtracks. XD

Comptine d'un autre ete: L'Apres Midi, has been like, my obsession for months now. Yann Tiersen is AMAZING and it is true. The sheer beauty of his works are more than words can form around.
