Description Plumey Bitties and Tyto Plumey (c) NanoBanana
Bittybones AU (c) Fucken-Crybaby

=== HOW DO I ADOPT A PLUMEY? ===
You just decide to and do! They are totally and completely free for anyone to adopt, so no need to ask (I'll always say yes). You can adopt as many as you like, just make sure to take care of them. You can write about your Plumey/Plumies or draw them, change their clothes, give them accessories, etc. The types described here are like describing the differences between a German Shepard dog and a Great Dane dog. They're all Plumies, just different "breeds", if you will.

If you adopt a Plumey, please make sure to credit me for the creation of the species and type. Also, DO NOT adopt them just to kill or maim them (or let other Bitties and creatures kill or maim them). Also also, DO NOT clip their wings. That's just cruel.

=== PLUMAY 2023 - DAY 3 ===
This type is based on the genus Tyto--the true barn-owls--and was suggested by obscuredsavepoint ! These were very easy to research due to the abundance of information available

Tyto Plumey
    Height / Wing Length: 6.9 - 9.8" (17.5 - 24.9 cm) / 15.2 - 18.1" (38.6 - 46.0 cm)
    Plumage: The topside of their wings is darker than the underside, usually ranging from dark brown-black to pale caramel with a variety of markings (any markings/colors found on owls in the genus Tyto are allowed!); the underside of their wings ranges from white to gray-brown but is ALWAYS lighter than the topside of their wings (any markings/colors found on owls in the genus Tyto are allowed!); their head plume is unusually dense and forms a rounded heart-shaped disc around their face with the bottom edges of the disc growing from the edge of their jaw; the head plume, while thick, always remains relatively short; the "disc" or facial part of the head plume matches the underside of their wings (light-colored) while the rest matches the topside of their wings (dark-colored)
    Diet: Carnivore (prefers abundant rodents but will also hunt birds and bats)
    Favorite Food: Based on individual preference (usually voles or mice)
    Superstition: This type is said to increase the innate intuition in those around them, allowing those with this boon to better anticipate the actions of others and changes around them.
    Traits: Somewhat introverted and can appear aloof or stand-offish. They are methodical and prefer structure and routine over spontaneity. They are extremely patient and can remain focused on even the smallest details over a prolonged period. Tyto Plumies will always gather as much information as they can (usually through observation) before starting something new. They quietly pride themselves on being prepared and take to learning new things eagerly. They are very organized and creative, but can also be quite competitive and aim for perfection. This can lead to frustration or irritation with themselves if they can't get something right on the first try. Despite their aloof appearance, they can be very affectionate towards their mates, offspring, and close friends. Tyto Plumies will gently lean against those they like and trust and may groom those they are particularly close to. Mate-bonded pairs have been known to nuzzle one another as well. The greatest gift a Tyto Plumey can give is a freshly hunted rodent and refusing such a gift can greatly damage one's relationship with that Plumey. Petting or touching one of these Plumies without permission is a quick way to get bitten (consent is important!).
    Notes: Not particularly territorial, but they do have a home range that they prefer to forage in. Tyto Plumies do not making "hooting" sounds and, much like their bird counterparts, may let loose a drawn out screech or scream to communicate with other Tyto Plumies over long distances. They may also screech loudly or hiss at intruders near their nest, snapping their sharp-toothed jaws in agitation. Persistent threats are chased away with some near-miss swipes of their sharp talons, but when angered those "near-misses" can turn into serious injuries. Despite this, they are not aggressive Plumies and prefer to keep to themselves. Tyto Plumies roost alone during the majority of the year, but will meet up sometime after the last frost with their mate in an area where their territories overlap. Nesting sites can be anything from a hollow tree, fissure in a cliff-face, or even old buildings. Tyto Plumey pairs will only ever have ONE Carrier Parent. The Carrier will remain with the eggs to guard them and the nest while the Donor Parent hunts. Until the offspring hatch and can walk at least a little bit, the Carrier Parent relies solely on the Donor Parent to keep them and the offspring fed. Mate-bonded pairs will nest together until the offspring can fly and have learned the basics of hunting, after which the parents then return to their solo-roosts until the next year. Once the parents have dispersed, offspring are expected to leave their parents' territory and strike out on their own. It is not uncommon to see groups of siblings traveling together, but they very rarely stake out territories near one another. Tyto Plumies are extremely successful hunters, gliding through the dark and snapping up unsuspecting rodents from the expansive grasslands, farmlands and open woodlands that they prefer. Some start hunting at sunset and have been spotted as early as dawn the next morning, but hunting during daylight is extremely dangerous for them due to how certain species of birds and Plumey types mob and harass them. The facial "disc" of feathers on a Tyto Plumey helps to amplify sounds and hone in on the sound's location. This sensitivity aids in their hunting, but this can make it overwhelming for them if they are stuck in overly noisy environments. Their eyesight is also extremely sensitive, allowing them to see perfectly in near-blackness but full daylight usually keeps them squinting until they slowly adjust. Due to the shape of their wings and unique feather structure, Tyto Plumies are silent fliers and barely disturb the air that they fly through. These Plumies molt once a year over a prolonged period. A Tyto Plumey that is currently a Carrier will molt while they remain with their offspring, usually finishing around the time the offspring have had their first molt. Donor Tytos and adult Tyto Plumies that have not mate-bonded will usually start molting at the beginning of a prey boom and finish a few months later. Due to their hunting skills and preferred prey, many farmers put up disguised nesting boxes to encourage Tyto Plumies to move in. This type of Plumey is very likely to inherit (or "come with") the Leg Muffs trait. Tyto Plumies with the Full-Light trait are ALWAYS totally blind. Plumey eyelights are round but can have "rings" inside or outside the main eyelight.
