Description Okay, I was bored... lol. I had nothing to do at 12am so I just whipped up this crappy stamp. It is now 3:45 am. yaaay
("don't judge a MANGA [series]"? I think thats more correct... "a manga" sounds wrong >_>' sorry)

----------------------------------------------------------------

What's my purpose behind this stamp?(prepare for LONG rant. skip if desired)
It's the manganime equivilent of the old "Don't judge a book by it's movie!" saying. I mean, really! Am I the only one who gets pretty peeved at people who dislike a series based entirely on it's anime? Personally I don't really think that's fair to the Mangaka, OR the person. They're missing out on a potentially great read just because the anime isn't matching in quality (which is a pretty common sight actually).

Let's look at reasons why manga appeals to ME (and could appeal to someone who has tried the anime and disliked it):
It's transportable (you can take a laptop to most places, but opening a book is definatly MUCH easier)
has much better art [usually]
easy to access (if you own it, that is. It's the difference between walking over to your bookshelf OR booting up your computer, going to an anime site, finding the series and episode you want, then waiting for it to load)
quicker to get through
won't get you in as much trouble since it's actually reading haha
no crappy alternate endings (FMA or Soul Eater, anyone?)
naturally moves at a much faster pace
allows you to imagine the prefered voices and music you want
skip the uneccesary (and annoying as HELL) filler
be completly up to date in the series
see the "uncensored" series the way the author truly intended it
and so on and so forth.

Now, my intention for this stamp wasn't to make it anime VS. manga, but it's turning into that the more I type... anyways, I understand that people have different opinions and that many just prefer anime over manga in the first place - I know that there are many good anime series out there. I can respect opinions, and I don't really care all that much anyways (It's not like I've ever preached this to someone before... that I can remember lol). It's not like EVERY manga will appeal to EVERYONE, anyways. If you dislike the anime because of an annoying character or unappealing plot, then it's obviously not going to change much in the manga, and the series just isn't for you. All I'm saying is that I'm really lucky to have given the manga of so many series a chance, considering their exceptionally crappy anime counterparts.

I can wrap this back to the beginning and make you all feel sorry you ever wasted your time reading everything in the middle: "Don't judge a book by it's movie" which I KNOW we can all relate to. It's simple as that, just... Japan-ified!

----------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding the technical stuff (It's my 2nd stamp, btw), I'm happy with it. I used GIMP - it was my first time using the program and was surprizingly easy once I got the hang of it...
And YES, I know "Choose MANGA!" sounds REALLY retarded, like some stupid federal election campaign ("CHOOSE LIBERAL!") but I didn't know what else to put there. The stamp didn't seem to have much meaning if it ended at the "ANIME" frame, and "Manga-reader and proud!" didn't fit or really make sense... So I went for Choose MANGA! because I couldn't think of anything else. lolololfwqyc`2g1 it actually makes me laugh every time it flashes by... "CHOOSE MANGA, ITS WHAT JESUS WOULD DO! "
something tells me no one really has a need for this stamp, expect me well its not like I update art much anyways. DEAL

No. The manga is not always better. Although, there IS a manga I'm currently reading (none of the ones in the stamp) and I think I like it better than the anime. I've been reading and watching back and forth, on and off. The colors are different and kind of weird, but I don't mind it so much. There aren't many fillers, but I really hate hearing the women speak/yell. I want to strangle almost all of them. I just want to watch the guys fight!

You Know Some Manga Are Based Of Anime Or Even Non-Anime/Manga Related Things Right? Regardless I See No Problem With Judging A Series By It's Anime-It's Almost Always The Same Story So If You Don't Like The Anime Chance Is Good You Wont Like The Manga Any More-Both Are The Same Story So I Say Just Pick What Way You Want To Get The Story And It's All Good.

I agree with you, totally. I watched anime 'Naruto' in TV and then bought manga and it's sooo much better! I'm reading many mangas, and occasionally watch some episodes of the anime just to see how much it's different from the manga. And, gosh, I HATE fillers! They make no sense!
I love these black and white pictures and a smell of manga paper... I would love buy every manga that I want to read, no matter how much it costs! And I think people prefer anime just coz they're lazy and don't like reading.
You, dude, are 100% right!

I guess it's opinion, right? I think manga is better in some ways, but since I don't have the money and get most of my manga at Barnes and Noble (what kind of weeaboo am I?!?!), it's easier to do it illegally via Internet. But yeah, I honest to God LOVE the manga plot of Soul Eater way more than the anime...even though I wish they'd remake the anime, leaving off from where it started to break off from the manga.
And as for FMA...Brotherhood is much closer to the manga version, and I love the reactions from...meh, if I say it, I'll spoil the ending.
But yeah, manga FTW!

I like to see the manga animated but a lot of the times the anime messes things up.And they pointless fillers! Then when you talk to someone who only watches the anime and doesn't read the manga and they think the fillers are so important it's annoying!

I don't really agree. I'm not a big reader of manga or watcher of anime but I 100% prefer the anime of Naruto to the manga. I do prefer the Death Note manga though. i think it's just a matter of how well the anime is done and if it actually sticks to the original plot.
I've never watched a movie that is better than a book though. I suppose it's because the attraction of books for me is the use of language, which manga lacks as it's not really reading, it's looking at pictures mainly.
Oh and I love fillers, why does everyone hate them?

I love manga. More than often when someone says "watch this anime" I check if there is a manga first. Though I have to admit there are some manga with very good story lines that for one reason or another I just could not get into. Death note for example. I don't know what the anime is like.

Really. I just started watching it and...ignoring the fact that it has completely changed major plot points, I really like it. It's kinda like the characters and basic gist of the manga (which is awesome)and made a new story with it.

Supahfrog In reply to kabya19 [2011-09-19 01:24:39 +0000 UTC]

Well for me, my friend got me to read the manga and I loved it But when I watched the show, it seemed like it turned more and more depressing. Making characters like Roy especially quite OOC. (I won't spoil anything since you just started.) But it slowly became more and more filler and it just didn't hold my attention like the manga did. (I love the voice acting though, I'm not ratting on the actors.)

I think the main problem is that the first series focuses only on Ed. Ed, Ed Ed all the time. (not that i don't like him but...he's not my favorite) The manga lets us see all sides of the wide world of Amestris.

While I would never say the first Fma anime was a bad show, I wouldn't say it lives up to its source material. Brotherhood was more enjoyable to me but I have issues with it too.

But in all~ I love FMA as a whole, But the first one will never really be considered canon to me

kabya19 In reply to Supahfrog [2011-09-19 15:31:09 +0000 UTC]

Hm,I have to admit, the show has a HELL of a lot to do with Ed. Which like you said, is fine. He is the main character but at this point in the manga, we knew a bit more than we do of the others.

I...really think this is one of the only things where I will not fallow what is and is not cannon. XD I just see it as two separate stories about the same characters. ^_^

Who is your favourite character by the way?

I definitely prefer the FMA manga. 2003 anime: Because they changed so much, I think of it as a serious Alternate Reality fanfic.
Brotherhood: Great, but they left out a bunch of stories that helped the story along.

So yeah, I like the FMA manga best, plus, Hiromu is a riot.

I avoid anime because I hate the 'omg dis voice sux' crap you get from the fanbase, or the dub vs sub. I will always read a manga series first, then have a look for the anime, if I want to. Some series like Axis Powers Hetalia I'll watch and read happily, but SJ series I don't.

I buy all my manga anyway, or will buy it eventually. I'll loa it out and people get into a series they wouldn't of normally gotten into. Nice stamp though.
