The background is shit. I didn't really know what to do with it anymore. I might get back to it later u.uAnyway, I'm pretty happy with the rest of it! Especially the bear!
Kinda inspired by old traditions, how they would praise their gods or their spirits for a good harvest. In this case, the salmon who return year after year.
ALSO, Critique is VEEEEEERY much appreciated! Especially on the background!!!

I don't know what you mean, the background seems really good to me. Maybe it's not exactly what you wanted, but I really like the soft colors and the simplicity. The grass and the rocks in the water add a nice touch - and a bit extra color - just enough to make it interesting to look at. The calm water fits the atmosphere of the picture, but if you want to change something, then the water might be that thing. Just make it a bit transparent, or make clear reflections on the surface, something like that. Anyway, this is an awesome picture already!

I like this a lot! You don't see many bears on dA (at least compared to other animals), so it's always great to see one. The pose of the bear is really nice, and the whole picture tells what you are trying to get across in the description very well. I feel sort of hypocritical giving you a critique on the background since I'm not good at all at them, but if I were to say anything that could be improved is maybe the texture of the water? maybe adding some transparency like seeing some of the bears body through it, or some of the fish that are still swimming under the water. But i really like the drawing and it's impressive without any changes.

Never feel like a critique isn't "worth it" based on your own skill level, first off! Regardless of skill level, people may have good perspectives on things that maybe the artist doesn't see with their own eyes! Besides, I appreciate critique from anyone. Doesn't matter!
I kinda agree with you on the water though, and I had debated on doing it semi-transparent. Haha reason why I didn't, was because I was going to make the water be more "lively" with more rapids and such, and gave up half way through... XD So now it's really smooth and awkward.
I might just go back on it though, since it's kinda bothering me, haha.
