The head design and feel of this reminds me of the dragons from Reign of Fire. Very nice design regardless, and a very interesting take on an otherwise often ignored pokemon.

Augh man, it looks beautiful! I have to say magmar is probably one of the most awful looking pokemon but you made him beautiful xD <3 I've always wanted to draw realistic pokemon too but I just haven't found the time yet ;u;
