Description E is for Excuses!

There should be no excuse for illegible, incoherent, and just plain bad illustration. However, the most put forward rebuke when fronted with this is for illustrators (and when I was still a virgin to the honest brutality of professional critique, I done the same) is to say; "Ah but it's my style." When that sentence finishes, if the reviewer doesn't do it for you, roll up a newspaper, and beat yourself senseless with it.

Illustration is the process of creating stuff with a clear message, which should be easy for all to visually read. It could be as simple as a character, or as complex as a philosophical stance on the ethics of abortion, but if the message can't be put across, the illustration has failed.

Style only goes so far; when it's an excuse, it has gone too far.

5/26... 21 to go.

As the Wizard walked up to the fortress, he paused. Was he powerful enough to face what was inside? This long journey, and now it came to this. Fear grabbed his heart and squeessed. No, he couldn't turn back now! Let lose of me you wretched feeling. He sighed and clenched his fist, looking up at the beast of a building with new perspective. Without hesitating he stepped forward.
