Description       You frown at the large wooden door. In the chamber beyond is the crystal, the reason you’ve spent so much time on this quest. You realize you don’t have the right gear to fight the wraith guarding it. You gather the swords, arrows, armor and other things you gathered while getting here. You head back down the hallway, past the rooms full of bodies, until you finally exit the ruins you spent so much time trying to get to. You check the map for the nearest major town to sell the stuff you have, make a quick note of the ruins’ location, and head to the town.

You arrive at the town, and as soon as you do, all the town guards and townspeople suddenly attack. You draw your sword and cut down one or two people, then start running back out of town, with everyone chasing after you. You keep running, cutting down anyone who catches up, until everyone abruptly stops, sheaths their weapons, and calmly walk back to town as if nothing happened. You stop to rest, and suddenly two people unsheathe their weapons and renew their attack. You cut down these two, and a random traveler that was passing by and decided to join in. You check your map, and head to the next town.

You enter the second town. You wait for a few moments, seeing if the townsfolk will here will go crazy. You relax when everyone goes about their business like every other day, and head to the shop to sell your things. You enter the shop, ignoring the shopkeeper’s boring, overused greeting, and proceed to trade. You then curse when the shopkeeper runs out of gold and you still have plenty of stuff to sell. You leave the shop, and head for the next shop to sell to.

You exit the shop in the fourth town you’ve visited, finally having sold everything you gathered. You head to the town blacksmith to check for the gear you need, and are overjoyed when the smith has the needed gear. You don’t have enough gold for it though, so, cursing, you go to the nearby castle to talk to the steward about a bounty. After getting a bounty to kill a bandit chief from the annoying steward, you check the location of the bandit camp on your map, and groan when you see it in an area you haven’t been to yet. You steel yourself and head out.

You start jogging in the direction of the bandit camp, choosing not to buy a horse to save gold. You keep jogging. You keep jogging. You stop jogging because a bear decided you were in its personal space from 100 feet away. After killing the bear, you start jogging. You start running because a giant with a huge club charges at you from nowhere. You keep running. You suddenly fly several feet in the air when the giant with the club finally catches up to you.

You get back up, take a deep breath, and start out on the path again. You kill the personal-space bear, and then sneak past the giant with the club along the way. You continue jogging until you finally reach the bandit camp.

You survey the camp on its outskirts and see that there are too many bandits to take on. You decide to wait for the cover of night and look for a place to hide. You’re taken by surprise when a bandit on watch spots you moving half a mile away. You curse as every bandit in the camp attacks and overwhelm you.

You’re back at the outskirts of the bandit camp. You take out your bow and arrows and shoot down every bandit on watch, then sit down and wait. You head out when night falls and sneak into the bandit camp, avoiding the bandits that apparently have no peripheral vision. You eventually find the bandit chief, and carefully sneak up on him. You’re surprised when the bandit chief actually spots, because he apparently has eyes in the back of his head. You’re overwhelmed by every bandit in the camp, again.

You’re back at the outskirts of the camp – again – and decide to charge in because fuck it. You stop in your tracks when a motherfucking dragon flies in and kills everyone in the camp. You curse when the dragon then attacks you. You eventually kill the dragon by the smallest margin of luck, and, after taking a rest, gather up some bandit gear and dragon bones, and return to the town.

You get your payment from the pissant steward in the town castle, sell the gear you have to anyone with gold to spare, buy the gear you need to finish the quest and some supplies, and return to the ruins.

You enter the ruins, walk past the rooms that are now inexplicably empty, and arrive at the crystal-chamber door. You check your gear and supplies, making sure you have enough for the hard fight ahead. You take a deep breath, open the door, and you freeze. Everything freezes. You try to move, but can’t.

You stare at your computer screen. You press the Control, Alt, and Delete buttons and force the game to quit. You restart the game and die a little inside when you see that all of your save files are corrupted, the only good one from three and a half hours ago. You shut down the game, and then your computer, deciding to call it a night. You then pound your head on the computer desk when you see you have to be at work in thirty minutes.
