Created from the ritual, the Children of the Crimson Moon must keep their bodies alive with a small amount of blood. In the event that they don't consume blood, the body seems to “turn on” a protective protocol to save life and falls into a state of thirst. The parents wanted to hide this from Vaylen, so they found a way to mask the taste of blood by mixing it with sweet syrup.
But when Vaylen did find out about this, he didn’t talk to his father for more than a month and just tried to accept the fact that he was only alive thanks to the ritual...
