So Gumi...For quite a while, I've been thinking about doing a wartime pin-up style drawing of Gumi. I guess it's due to the googles, and Our 16bits War. There's also some guerillera!Gumi aspect to it.
I don't like pestering my sister too much, asking her opinion on my stuff, considering she HATES vocaloids. So, I tried getting some feedback for this at the VO forums, but failed completely at getting some kind of response (appropiate sound effect -> [link] )
And the ak-47 is kind of weird looking, I guess. Not sure how to fix it, though.

I know that I don't know her, but from your descriptions, you sister sounds awefully critical of your work. I try to keep my opinions about the characters and the pairings out of how much I like the art, because it can still be beautiful, even if I don't necessarily like what's being presented:
(for example, LukaxMiku Magnet art. I personally don't like the pairing, AT ALL but a lot of it is REALLY GOOD, I love teal and pink together and of course my favorite animal is a butterfly. I also enjoy looking at superhero comic art, even though I think superheros are cheezy and melodramtic in all the wrong ways, because when it's done well, it's STILL GOOD TO LOOK AT)
Of course, this does not apply to how I think about your art. I love Vocaloid with my heart mind and soul, AND your art is amazing, so eye-cake for me, but I don't think that even those who don't like Vocaloid should dis your art JUST FOR THAT REASON.
Anyway... (man, I ramble.) This is a excellent picture. My very first thought when I saw Gumi was "bubblegum colored steampunk?" so "pinup wartime" fits her perfectly, in my opinion. Love how she's on the card with the star on it, but her feet and the gun stick out, giving it a more 3D feel. The maps are a great touch too.

On one hand, I kinda sucks when I spend an afternoon drawing something, and then all she has to "say" about is "...Vocaloid *gags*" But when she's in the mood she is rather helpful. Without her, I have a tendency towards "noodle people" XP
And yeah, Gumi gives me a certain "steampunk" vibe. That's the best thing about her, in my opinion :3

Yeah, I guess criticism is good if you want to get better.
Gumi rocks. I love how all the Vocaloids are so distinctive and fun to play around with. After looking at your art I feel inspired to draw them. We'll see how that turns out. (I'm still trying to find my drawing style).
