Just make sure you get a paint program with it.

I would highly recommend "Paint Tool SAI".
It starts off with a free trail. So you can try before you buy. It's a program with your basic instruments, like marker, pen, pencil, and it has a large custom selection of colors. That you would normally use in real life.

If you want something with wild effects check Adobe CS5 out.
This has a large variety of cool abstract effects. It has everything that Paint Tool SAI has and more. However, it will require a decent computer because when it's under pressure it tends to lag or freeze.
