I just suddenly got an urge to draw a hyena chick a few days ago, so, here she is.::Giggles:: Oddly enough, when I first got the idea for the piece, she was with a crow and not the vulture… but as far as I know, Africa doesn’t have crows. So, I replaced her with the old-world vulture there, who, I’m guessing is a bit irked because hyena kept chasing her away from whatever the hyena had killed (Or scavenged).
I also suspect that when back with the rest of her family at the den, she’d wear more traditional African dress, but the bright colors would be detrimental if she wore it while hunting…
Oh, and , yeah I Stole Nweka’s ( [link] ) hair, ‘sept, it’s not black. I was soooo tempted to make it Nweka after seeing your piece. Oh, and ::Giggle:: Recognize the feather, hon?

I adore the vulture, not enough people do picutres of vultures, they're pretty awesome birds.

The hyena looks pretty good. I like how she's rounded throught the places hyena girls are more round. People try to make them lithe like a fox or a wolf, but they're really, routound.
All in all, very cute!

I'll admit, she kept looking like a wolf (Thus is why the nose it too long, I think) and yeah ::Giggles:: they are round little animals... I think it makes them look cute. Especially the pups.

I really like this piece. It has such a nice scene in both the background and the interaction of the characters as well. The background being lovely with the mountain, the placement of the grass and the bones (which would technically be in the foreground), has a very ‘Serengeti’ feel to it. The hyena came out especially well, and I really like the pleasant look upon her face as she talks to the slightly peeved vulture. She looks lovely overall too.

I thought it was Nweka myself, because I didn't know what colour her hair is.
The background looks really good on this piece.
And I really like the vulture for some reason. *giggles*
The shadow under the bone resting on the rock integrates the ground and the bone quite nicely, but it seems like the two conversationalists should also cast slightly more obvious shadows? (more than just immeadiately beneath them... the light source is from the upper right but slightly more to the centre, I'm guessing?) I could be wrong though; that's just a first impression.
And no big deal, it is still convincing and quite three dimensional.
