[Edit] Okay, so this guy got more attention than I thought he would... I expected, like, three comments since I usually don't post anything much like this exactly. O.o So I'm gonna elaborate on Inklings a little.

Inklings are one of the many forms that are taken by the remnants of ideas of artists and writers and the like that are left unused, or were only partially formed. The Inkling is usually shaped in the form of a newt or salamander, though the complexity of the idea often contributes to the complexity of the inkling... Dinosaur and even dragon inklings are recorded on occassion by those too busy to draw or write.

Their preferred habitat is in an ink well, since it's a spacious, moist and air-tight (They usually don't want to dehydrate) living environment. They can swim around in ink fairly well, though water in large amounts is a great danger to them, because it can cause their bodies to dissolve. In a last-ditch effort to get noticed as an idea, their attempts to swim usually cause very pretty swirls in the water as they dissolve.

This being said, it is also good to note that the idea does not die when the body dissolves, but rather lies dormant or takes another form. These are usually very common things, such as cloud shapes and the like. But that's a whole other can of worms and I digress...

Finally, I'd like to say that particularly persistant Inklings sometimes take up living in the cramped tube inside pens, hopeing to get noticed and used. It's also fairly easy to tell if there is an inkling roaming about, due to it's round, inky,randomly scattered footprints and drippings. Oftentimes, the artist is blamed of making a mess, when rather, it's simply Inkling prints.
