Manga Artistic Challenge #1 Winners!
My mermaid is based off of Baby Blue Eyes (nemophilia menziesii), the blue and white variety.
I chose them because I once saw a picture of a field of the blue variety and they looked like the ocean. The white variety actually blooms on sea cliffs. 
I was in such a hurry to finish this. ;u;

I also took a Natural History class, so I got to know bird anatomy pretty well, so once I saw a picture, I could pick up on the important features much easier and play with the poses a bit more.
These are very generalized birds though. 
Never be afraid to try something new, pretty much.
I want to touch this back up since the contest is over and fix some of the things I don't like after the winners are announced. XD I think it might make a good artwork to sell prints of at convention once I do. People really like my first mermaid picture after all. I can't sell that one, but maybe this will do the trick.

I based her fin off of that popular flowering material pattern
