"He passes Magnus, calm and cold, as he turns his back on kelpie and holy water to move towards the Crystal itself. Stepping towards a beam of light that glows gold through the ceiling. There is his father, depths of red solemn, where he stands brooding on the steps that raise towards yellow splendor. “And he shall fall but he shall seek forgiveness even if it shall never be granted.” Whispered fanatical words, his ashen halo gleaming where it catches in sunlight, celestial wings still dragging, unfurled, until they blanket the risen ground around him. Helbrandr glares stonily behind the Allmother, watching. “And he shall burn for eternity, forevermore, until his soul is clean.”

The vampire steps closer still, light falling across the white of his shoulders. A soft broken name tumbles from dry lips, but if it’s Anandi’s or the Allmother’s it’s hard to be sure. Perhaps it’s both, one and the same. “Is it enough now?” Smoke curling from ivory flesh where daylight rains through broken glass, words ever so tired as cracked halo presses to the glow of ever-present yellow.
