Since I RP as Yen on Facebook, I've had a few people send me this image. I'm glad to finally know where it comes from <3
I also recognize a few of your other images from the same situation- people sending them to me or tagging me in them.
You're very talented, I especially love how you draw hair!

What's the point of this? Judging by "Geralt"'s reaction, another joke at Triss' expense? Really getting sick of the constant slights and jabs from Yen fans...
You're a great artist, but this type of thing isn't needed and just harm's the fanbase. Is there not enough bad blood?

You hear enough of them, and when you yourself are on the receiving end of trolling and hate from those same people [not you, but spiteful Yen fans], the humor disappears. I'm weary and sick of the attempts to undermine Triss, and the attacks and hate me and my friends have had to endure for liking her. It's a shame, I wish it wasn't the case, but it is. I think it's something that's going to do irreparable harm to this fanbase in the long term, and possibly the franchise. I know your art isn't the most explicit case in point, and it may not have been your intention, but it's just fuel for the fire, you know?

The point of the picture is to undermine Triss, though: Geralt's reaction, because she's in Yen's outfit - saying he'd not have that reaction otherwise. The point is to make a mockery of her. I notice you don't draw any pictures of her with Geralt, which further reinforces that impression. You mention the books, yet the game version of the Witcher world is not the same as the book version, nor are the character's portrayed the exact same, or their history. The games are about Geralt and Triss, and I also notice you draw the game versions of the characters.
A joke at another's expense, or to deprecate or undermine another, isn't funny. At least, not to those who sympathise with them. Perhaps if Triss fans weren't on receiving end of daily attacks, things like this pic could be taken in a different light. I wish that was that case. But as it stands, you shouldn't be surprised someone would find it offensive. There is no need to mock and undermine other characters and fans.

It really does seem like a harmless joke that the artist porbably came up while doodling, and is even more obvious by her comments. But you're getting offended by something where there was no negative intent whatsoever, so it's probably better to calm down and not be mad at an artist who just loves the Witcher universe and the awesome characters that live in it ._.

I see you're slipping veiled insults into each reply now, nice. Perhaps it's because you have limited empathy (see, I can do it too)?
I like how you never once gave an account of how this is NOT a mockery of Triss, aimed at undermining her. Just, I am in the wrong because I don't find that funny? Perhaps if it was a mockery of Yen, you wouldn't be smiling, huh? But do you see Triss fans doing that? No, you don't. Perhaps that says something.
It's like people with racist jokes. "Hey, I intended it as a joke, so if YOU'RE offended, it's YOUR problem" *washes hands*
And don't worry, I'm done in here. I've seen enough of this damn picture. The Witcher community is fast becoming a "community" in name only...it's sad, and a damn shame. These games, these characters, and even the damn fans, deserve better.

The community may collapse because of people like you. seeking all around bad. seeking insults and humiliation. what would have hurt you anymore. how would you be offended? what would be a reason to invent for the occasion, to argue?
and then to complain and shortcoming, and to see insults where there is none. I repeat, if you want to see around the insults even if it is not - it is your choice. that is your perception makes innocent jokes is the problem.
and very disgusting, as "fighting" for the "honor" of one character, you propose to insult another character, just so you feel better. phew! You yourself brought ventilator, and brought the ammunition for it.
your feelings of the believer personally. do not suffer nonsense. . you, as feministki. not true fiministki, who are fighting for equality. and those whom men could not even open the door, that they would not consider it as an insult. You want to be offended - offense.

kyg In reply to NastyaSkaya [2017-01-19 07:14:26 +0000 UTC]
You still offer no explanation how the picture can't be interpreted as anything but a mockery of Triss.
Also, you say I "insult another character, just so I feel better". I didn't insult any character. I said I don't, I said none of us should. We should support each other and the character and games we like. You are the one that created an image mocking a character, and thus their fans.
I have no idea what you said at the end there, although I understand English is not your first language. Something about feminism (?) and about being a gentleman (?). I have no idea what that has to do with anything, or what your point is, or what your view of me seems to be. But I'd be careful throwing accusations around, your image here shows you seek to mock others. I don't know why, perhaps mocking Triss in such a stupid way helps convince you of the rightness of your choices? It makes you feel better to mock others and make them feel worse. If so, that's sad.
But it certainly explains why you're drawn to Yennefer.

I repeat. I love to Triss and Yennifer - equally. you invented yourself something and have started to accuse me. In fact, based on the fact that for yourself and invent. you think this is normal?
You - a fanatical fiministka. I - a gentleman. I - I open the door for you. you - took it as an insult. you find insulting - where it is not. And inflated from a harmless joke - a scandal. I feel sorry for you. good luck to you.
it is because of people like you, there is a desire to draw something really insulting.
just annoying, so you are not adequately perceive the world ...
Now I want to actually draw something insulting, especially for you. so at least then it would be a good reason, such pritenzii predyavlyat me.
my respect for Triss and love for her - begins to fade. because of you.
such unfounded claims - you do worse. In the following figure, I wanted to show - in love with each other, Geralt and Triss. Thank you, because you have taken away my desire to show this pattern. nebudet it, thanks to you.
good luck to you.

You are upset at me because I care about the character?
Perhaps if you showed how the picture is not designed to offend, or mock, then that may have helped. But you couldn't, or wouldn't. You said it wasn't the case, but offered no proof. Perhaps if you'd actually engaged with me, rather than getting angry at me or hurling insults things would have went better.
Do you think I want to see pictures of Triss being mocked? You are a great artist, it'd be nice to see you create positive images of Triss and Geralt, yet you chose one that seemingly mocks her. It's a disappointment. I can only go from what I see and I see you've put her dressing up as Yen and Geralt having an exaggerated reaction because of it. To me, it seems like it is designed to mock her. If I was wrong, perhaps you should have shown me what the intended point of the picture was, rather than just yelling at me. Show me what I'm seeing wrong.
There is a culture of attacking and undermining Triss, and attacking her fans, within certain parts of the Witcher community. You shouldn't be surprised that people are sensitive to it. If someone hits you over and over again, you are going to flinch the next time someone raises their hand. If you truly care about Triss, then you should be able to see where I am coming from. I don't want to see your picture as "hate" or "disrespect" (why would I seek that out?), but it seemed like it was mocking her and I had to speak up, because I'm tired of the constant attacks against her from sections of the community. If yours was not an attack, and you intended something else, it would have been nice for you to explain that.

I can not tell you anything to prove and explain, as I talk to you through the Google translator, because I do not know the English language. and many of my sentence - just lose their meaning when translated into english or acquire a different meaning. I tried to politely explain to you - you do not understand.
if there was something really annoying - I'd recognize. but it's just a joke. funny, based on the fact that the book, wanted to be with Triss Geralt. Geralt wanted to be with Yennifer. Triss wanted to attract his attention. I took the image of the game characters - as they are recognized. They know it. Book trtiss - would not know. that's all.
the figure Triss not naked, does not cut the vein, no one is dancing on her bones. there is no abuse.
here's just a joke, hilarious. on Halloween.

I'm trying to understand.
I get that you're making a joke about the Triss in the books wanting to draw Geralt's attention, but he's fixated on Yen (b/c the wish). Fair enough. But using the game characters visually is a problematic choice, as the game characters, and game Witcher world, differ in many respects from their book counterparts. And not everyone has read the books either. So using the game characters, first instinct would be to assume this a joke about the game characters. Perhaps if you'd just said in the description that this was based on the books, things would be clearer.
I don't get the "They know it. Book trtiss - would know. that's all" part, though.

I understand. Like I said, I think just a little bit in the description or title, saying this is the book version of the characters, would help. Since, this joke in reference to the game version of the characters is highly contentious and riling (neither Geralt or Triss are like that), where as in reference to the book characters (which you intended) it's not so much a problem. I'm sure you can see that too.

Hmm? Do you agree? If you chose to use the look of the game characters, so the joke seems like it's about them. Perhaps add some text to your description (e.g. "based on book versions) or title (e.g. Triss Merigold [books]), I think it would make things clearer and avoid confusion or contention.

You do realise she sent a letter saying she needed "help", right? And that it was only to go to Willoughby, then it blew out for 6 months. He never expected to be gone so long. And he never says he wants to be with her again in the story. It's the final part of dealing with his amnesia.
Also, in TW2 he tells Triss that he wants to be with her, even when he looks for Yen. The only reason he and Triss "broke up" was to give the Yen romance a window. That's why they never go into the specifics.
He is also influenced by the wish once his memory of Yennefer returns, as he says in the game, since anything he felt for Yen (whatever remained) disappears with the wish (he feels it go, "the magic is gone"). Can you imagine realising your feelings (for so long) were not your own?
He also tells Triss in the game, with his memories back, "the amnesia changed nothing, wanted to be with you before, during, after - always."
Another thing he says in TW3 is that his life before the amnesia felt like it was another life, belonged to someone else.
I answered your points, but I won't be dragged into a Triss/Yen debate. This is not the forum for that.
And I didn't say it was her fault, I said you have to be careful in a "community" where people are doing that, where you have Yen fans creating derogatory art all the time (I don't know why they feel the need to do this, it seems incredibly insecure, and is often so horribly spiteful and hate-filled), there is a tension and a sensitivity.
