OMG.


IT WAS LIKE THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ.


I MEAN LEO AND CALYPSO? LEO BEING MAD AT PERCY? LIKE IS HE GOING TO GO BACK FOR CALYPSO OR WHAT?


PERCY FEELING GUILTY FOR HOW HE'S TREATED PEOPLE? NOT COOL! NOT COOOOOL! HE'S SO SELFLESS WHY DOESN'T ANYONE SEE THAT? HE WAS GOING TO LET ANNABETH GO UP FROM TARTARUS AND HOLD THE DANG BUTTON FOR HER...


AND NICO BEING GAY? (Personally, I felt that was just unnecessary and Rick trying to keep up with what's seen today as "socially acceptable." I don't support gay marriage. Yell at me. Say what you want. Or ignore me. That's my opinion. Please, I really don't want to get into a rant or an argument about what I believe. Just take it as it is; I don't mind at all if you have a different opinion. Who am I to change what you think? By that same logic, who are you to change what I think?)


AND WHAT ABOUT THAT DANG LINE AT THE VERY END "AND AFTER WE GET HOME..." "WHAT?" SHE KISSED HIM "ASK ME AGAIN, ONCE WE DEFEAT GAEA." WHAT IS ANNABETH TALKING ABOUT? AHHH I'M GONNA HAVE TO MAKE A STORY ABOUT THAT OR SOMETHING.


AND FRANK ALL AWESOME PRAETOR. WHERE DOES JASON GO FROM HERE? HE OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T LIKE CAMP JUPITER. WILL HE STAY AT CAMP HALF-BLOOD? DOES THAT MEAN PERCY WILL GO TO CAMP JUPITER? HE AND ANNABETH SEEMED AWFULLY EXCITED ABOUT NEW ROME PLANS.


AND HAZEL WITH HER MIST? WHAT UP WITH THAT. HAZEL IS SO AWESOME. 


I'm just gonna say it: I love Piper, but she was a bit blah in this book. BUT IT WAS STILL THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ. 


I CAN'T BELIEVE WE HAVE TO WAIT AN ENTIRE YEAR FOR THE LAST BOOK BUT OMG IT'S GOING TO BE INCREDIBLE THERE'S NO TWO WAYS ABOUT IT.

CALEO, CALEO, CALEO!!!! I ship it to no end!!! seriously, I am still open to Leyna, but CALEO and angst and a promise on Styx!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

You know one thing that has bothered me for a while since I re-read the books?  That in the first book they make this big deal about not calling the gods and monsters by their names, but in every book after that its like that flies out the window.  they call the gods and monsters straight out so often, like seriously.  It was only here that they re-entered that concept of names have power and saying it could alert them to your presence or whatever, but hey, I'm good with it. It just occurred to me.

and there was so much character development I almost DIED! Hazel, and Frank, and Jason!  AND LEO

SO much character development!  Frank becoming more comfortable in his own skin, and being awesome and being praetor!! so awesome.  loved it so much.
I did not approve of Nico being gay. you are so right, it was just to try and promote the whole "its okay if you're gay, if you're not whatever, everything is okay, just don't be mean or against anything" and to be socially acceptable.  it doesn't really add anything to his character, inmy opinion.

Haha you're right about the monsters. The only other time anyone took a precaution was when Percy and Rachel were in the band room in book 4.

Oh, no problem! I am very used to being in the minority opinion, and having people try to shove their opinions down my mouth and shred mine to pieces at the same time, so I know how it feels.  it is an admirable quality to not care about what others say and say what you believe despite their hatred or disapproval

I felt sooooo bad for Leo. Then Leo's first kiss OH GODS OH GODS GIVE ME A SECOND.
"You didn't really think I could start Leo and Calypso's Auto Repair without Calypso, did you?"

words cant explain how much I loved him in this book omfg
that part with the arai scared me SO MUCH OMFG
But really. I felt so bad for him. He was forced to let Bob and the giant (I can't think of his name oh no) sacrifice their lives for them after what? Percy didn't help them at all and he was so upset I wanted to cry omfg

I do believe Rick was trying to be socially acceptable but I still support him 100% with Nico. You can have your opinions though, I wont bash it or anything.

and yeeehahahhaha frank and hazel definitely went through some AWESOME CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.
but all in all AMAZING BOOK

THAT WAS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL LINE!


THAT PART WAS SO SCARY AND AMAZING BECAUSE I REALIZED JUST HOW STRONG PERCY IS AND HOW MUCH HE CARES FOR ANNABETH AND GODS I LOVE THEM. That part with Bob and Damasen (?) was heartbreaking. 


I appreciate that I can respect your opinion and I really, really appreciate that you didn't call me an idiot for having my own thoughts. Sad to say, but some people would. I hope no one ever says anything like that to you for the same reason.

Like, Percabeth was always the most adorable ship, but it's so strong and important now- like, they need eachother
(As Reyna said, Percy wouldn't even be able to find his way out of a paper bag without Annabeth, ahah)

no, i feel the same about nico. it's also sooo clear that rick added that into this book as a political point and didn't plan it when he created nico. there's literally no sign of him having a crush on percy in the previous books, and it belittles all his problems (bianca's death, not knowing about his family, his dad being a complete douchebag, etc), writing off all his moodiness as "he was just afraid of who he is"... it seems a little patronizing.


but YES YES i loved this book. i was so glad none of the seven got stuck at the doors but bob...

OMG yes. Especially since he had a crush on Annabeth at one point. Exactly! He hates Percy! In book 4, at least. You're absolutely right. Rick did totally write off his moodiness. Now he just seems like a spoiled kid.

yeah, i feel like nico was a lot stronger than that. he prevailed through all his even worse problems, but now rick's trying to say he was only running away because of percy? it's just wasn't written in very well at all.

it was so brilliant how he brought bob back and the interaction between him and percy! i loved the part where annabeth said she felt uncomfortable with how percy was either being extremely compassionate or extremely calculating; i feel like there was a  lot of uncomfortable tension between percabeth in tartarus...

I know, Bob was genius! Haha I loved that part, too. But it made me a bit sad. The Romans changed Percy a little. I've never really known him to be calculating. I mean, it's hardcore and awesome, but still sad What are your thoughts? And you're right, there was a lot of tension. Something I don't like about Rick is that he doesn't resolve conflicts like that. Annabeth will think of something that really bothers her about Percy or scares her but she won't say anything then they'll have some big blowup and yell and not say anything productive and not even apologize.

yeah, i hate to say it but i feel like percabeth might break up? remember the part where she called him a "friend" and then wondered why she'd said it? and in MoA when she was thinking about how she wouldnt be able to visit the ocean if they ever broke up.... idk i just get a bad feeling, like ricks been dropping a bunch of teeny hints everywhere and they're going to lead up to something awful.

or maybe thats just me projecting my own feelings on it lol, i've never been all that comfortable with percabeth. for some reason i rly liked them when they were still flirting back in PJO, but now that they're really together it's been weird. i especially didn't like that bit where annabeth said he was "A PART OF HER" and "SHE COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT HIM". i guess its just the whole AtLA vs. korra thing.... friendship to romance in the first series, and full-on hardcore teenage soppy drama in the second series

4. I agressively do not ship Leo + Calypso. Leo does (no offense) NOT deserve to suddenly have an immortal girlfriend. I liked 7th wheel Leo. 

5. Okay, I must admit, Percy would be a good person, if, you know, he was real. But being in a book is actually a completely different thing. You KNOW that Riordan can do anything he wants, Percy starts feeling a little bit TOO good. And you know that of course Percy and Annabeth will make it out alive. All offense possible to Rick, though, Tartarus felt a little- no, a lot- tame. Even compared to the monsters encountered in The Lightning Thief, Tartarus is a walk in the park on a sunny day. And Bob te Titan is NOT a good enough sacrafice! What happened to Nico?

6. I... uh... no comment, but have you ever missed someone when they reveal a secret, even though they're the same person? 

7. Arg, Percabeth! My weakness! No, literally, Percabeth makes me disentegrate.

8. Frank FINALLY has some spotlight time. No problem here!

9. Mist, diamonds, and Nico? Hazel, quit hogging the superpowers.

10. Piper's blah in ALL the books.


But the biggest problem? SOMEONE DIE ALREADY!

I think there needs to be some drama with Percy, some bad feelings, but I would have felt better if he tried harder (I've always felt this when Percy makes mistakes) to make it up to... everyone. IT DID FEEL TAME! YOU ARE SO RIGHT! The Bob thing was so sad tho...

Well, I have nothing AGAINST Leo, unlike some other characters, but I liked when it was all Team Leo and sarcastic funnyness, instead of all seriousness and love and river Styx.


Yeah, I sorta feel the same way. I've never been much of a cheer-for-the-underdog type of person, but I'm not all up for main characters though, but I do like a character with a good backstory (Luke, Leo, Hazel, previously Nico). And there should be more drama with him. I mean he fell into Tartarus but DID YOU SEE TARTARUS YOU FRIGGIN SON OF POSEIDON YOU IT WASN'T ALL THAT BAD and I never read Demigod Files so...


Oh my titan lord I couldn't disagree more. They  CAN easily kill off a character as easily as one can be gay. And there has been death, obviously, in it before.


And my classmate was saying "OMIGOD Percy Jackson is SOO stupid! Right? He goes all 'Duy, who am I? Guess what 'I'm amnesic! Ooh Annabeth! Who's Annabeth?"

All the characters were super kick-butt in this book, especially FRANK! I never would've expected Rick to pull a stunt like that, but I didn't mind. I was actually quite pleased with this book! No awful Rick-cliff-hangers!!

The part with Nico turning out to be gay seemed a little forced to me; it would have been better if there was more hinting towards it, at least in the last book. Because constantly acting like he hated Percy didn't seem like enough foreshadowing for a crush, and this seems like a last-minute addition.


Though to be honest, reading those lines made my fujoshi heart weep and at least PercyxNico shippers seem to make a lot more sense now.

It did seem forced. That's the word I was looking for. I agree; I thought it was unnecessary, but if Rick had to put it in, he should have led up to it more. 


It held no appeal to me at all... but I was pleased that even Nico could not hate Percy for long Even if he was gay, which I found kind of disturbing... Percy's awesome, though.

Haha if there is one thing I'm not afraid to say, it's my opinion. It was just a bit too forced. They didn't lead up to it or anything. I just think it was a little disturbing... but I get the sense Uncle Rick isn't going to let it go in the fifth book, this Percy/Nico thing. I HIGHLY DOUBT he'll go so far as to break up Percabeth, but if he does, I WILL BURN EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE BOOKS AND SUE HIM.

*sighs* Unfortunately, that's probably true. I can see it being a major part of the plot/a major driver of the conflict for the next book
