Description I've been doing a lot of experimenting with resin during the past few weeks, and I think this is my favorite piece so far! I cast this out of a candy mold (which I'm surprised actually worked!). If you're not careful, and if the plastic is too thin, the resin will melt right through the mold, thus causing a gross, icky mess.

After the resin set, I popped the star out, and covered it up with Swarovski Crystal AB flatback rhinestones. It is SO sparkly holy coooow I adoooore it. I sprinkled some glitter into the resin before it set up too, so the entire star piece has sparkles going through it! ^____________^

The Swarovski crystal rhinestones are definitely way more sparkly than any other rhinestone out there for sure! I love using them, they just get a little pricey. Rightfully so though!

This is so cool. I love how colorful it is. Is resin really hard to work with? I've always wanted to try it out but I'm worried it'll be too difficult.

Thanks! I was really nervous when I first starting casting resin too! It's not difficult at all! The hardest part is figuring out a recipe that will work just right, but there are usually instructions on the back of the container of resin. It will say how much catalyst goes into how many ounces of resin you're using. I estimated at first, but for the resin I use, I use 1 tablespoon of resin with 5 drops of catalyst, and they pendants set within 2 hours. The first time I tried, I used 4 drops of catalyst and it took the resin well over a day to set. So it's really picky with the catalyst! I also use a mold release, and that helps the pendants pop out of their mold. I bought a cheap resin mold at michaels (it's specifically for resin), and it works wonderfully. Now, I'm experimenting with candy molds, and those are a bit harder to work with because they're a thinner plastic and less flexible. When the resin sets in the candy mold, I typically have to work harder to get the pendant out, but they still work fine. I've also heard of resin melting right through the candy molds, but I have yet to have that happen to me. I always set the mold on top of a piece of waxed paper just in case. I always mix and cast outside (this stuff STINKS), wear gloves and goggles. Dry heat is also your friend! The hotter it is, the quicker they set (dry heat especially). lol.. sorry for the resin essay! lol

EPIC. I love it. I have a thing for stars. Poured resin? That's a way to mount crystals I never thought of! Nice work. Really clean.
