Description Well, I never expected to make it to 400 deviations (plus who knows how many scraps). I always expected to go quality over quantity.

Anyway, since I did, I thought I'd upload a flamepack of basic flames for learning with. Included are parameters and example images for:

1) A very basic spiral. This is useful for two things; actually making spiraled fractals, and for testing out what new variations look like on their own. You can replace the blur circles with just about anything and get an idea of how a variation starts out.

2) The original basic flower. I tried to do a live tut on this and didn't do so well, so here's a parameter you can use to start out with instead.

3) Stained glass. Have fun tweaking this one! It's very, very versatile.

4) Disc technique. I originally learned this from ~ToxicGirlfriend Also very versatile, but sensitive.

5) Plastic hearts. ^lyastri let me in on the secret of making pretty painterly fractals by adding a dab of cross to a plastic; I discovered it makes awesome hearts if you do it right!

Feel free to download and tweak to your heart's content. Hopefully it will be useful for some of you new fractalists just starting out. You don't have to credit me or show me what you've made, but I'd sure love it if you did!

Only one Rule for use:

1) DO NOT render and upload as is. Besides being really boring, that's stealing.

Flames should open in:

Apophysis 2.07
Apophysis 2.06 3D hack

Whoah, very nice work, i am very impressed!
Thank you very much for uploading this set!

Just one little question. ΒΏAre this flames allowed to be used for commercial purposes? For example i get asked to do a design and i think the best option is to use one of the Flames (or just a part of them) of this set to get the job done. Am i ALLOWED to use them IF i am not claiming their propierty, not distributing them, i just USE them for making a final image wich will be with another designs?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question well, so I will answer it the way I think you're asking and the way you might be asking.

The flames may not be used, for commercial purposes or private purposes or any purposes at all, IN THEIR ORIGINAL FORMS. That's my work. And since they're so basic, they're pretty ugly anyway and you'd be silly to try to sell them that way.

The flames may be used as a jumping off point to make your own work. Once you've changed the shapes and colors and made them your own, they're yours! Do whatever you want with them!

Does that make sense? When you pull up the original parameters in Apo, if you rendered them that way and printed them, they'd be mine and you'd be stealing them whether you credited them to me or not. But if you pull them up and change them, you are making them your own and then you can use them for whatever you would use your own work for, commercial, private, whatever your choice is.

Hope that helps!

You can use these to make your own work for any thing you want to, that's why I put them up. But you can't use them as they are now, you have to change them.

How hard is this program to use to make these

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NatalieKelsey In reply to desruction888 [2010-08-17 16:15:08 +0000 UTC]

Um...the best answer I can give is that the program is VERY simple to get into and get going with, but does have a learning curve and takes work and practice to get really good with. Does that make sense? These are basic flames and shouldn't be too hard to work with. But if you're just starting out it will take you a bit to get stuff you really love.

BeehiveStudio [2008-10-11 13:57:39 +0000 UTC]

I want to use it but how am I suppose to change it I am quite basic in fractals, to change it should I play with the script you gave us?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NatalieKelsey In reply to BeehiveStudio [2008-10-12 00:38:45 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's not really a script. They're just parameters. So open Apo, and put in the flame there, and open the little button that has triangles on it. That will bring up your editor. The editor is where you play with the flames to change them. Each transform (triangle) can be changed in many ways. CHange the numbers, rotate them, play around with all the buttons. Pretty soon you'll figure out what everything does and you'll start to get stuff you like.

Thanks so much for this!!!

I have to take exception to one thing you said..."2) The original basic flower. I tried to do a live tut on this and didn't do so well, so here's a parameter you can use to start out with instead."

You did a great job with that tutorial. It was the first one I've tried. I had to work at it, but I did learn and was thrilled to see how it is done. I probably forgot to send you any feedback about it, but I was so happy and impressed that you took the time to teach us. So, super kudos to you!

Aww! Thanks so much! I really felt like I should have figured out more of what I wanted to say beforehand; I thought it'd be much easier to teach. I'm glad you got something out of it.
