After Future Trunks's finally bid his farewell after putting an end to Cell, Vegeta had locked himself in his room and laid down on his bed just to think. Thinking of how he failed to restore his honor, how he let his son die, he was even beginning to think he wasn't fit to be called a Prince. Nothing that day went as planned. He was suppose to put a stop to Cell, he was suppose to prove to be the strongest of the warriors… he was suppose to gain back his honor. Instead he got the beating of his life, his son died because he didn't protect him, Kakorrott died, and his son accomplished what he the prince had failed. He was a failure and knew it. His father would have been so ashamed to see him get out ranked by a third class warrior and his son. It was depressing him to know that what was his birth right was given to someone else. It wasn't fair, it was actually quiet pitiful. He felt pitiful.

There was a knock on his door and a second later Bulma had entered the room. She had worry and sadness in her eyes. He wasn't sure why but he didn't give it much thought since he really had no concern for what was troubling her, he had his own problems right now. "Vegeta, can you go to my room real quick please?"

"No I don't take orders from anyone. You should know that by now."

"It's not an order, it's a favor. Please Vegeta I really need you to do this one thing for me… if you do I won't ask anything else of you ever again. I promise."

"Fine whatever, as long as it gets you off my back. You better keep your word." He said with his traditional scowl on.

"Thank you. When you get in turn on my music player, and then read my letter. I'll be there in a minute."

"Why-"

"Just do it." With that said she left the room. Vegeta then slowly entered her room which was next door to his. He scanned the room for the music player and found it next to her bed. He cautiously sat down on the bed and looked around. 'I wonder what she has planned…' he thought to himself. After a few second of looking at the familiar room, he pressed play on the music player and it immediately began to play.

"We're smiling but we're close tears,
Even after all these years,
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting for the first time"

'Now where's that letter?' As soon as he asked the question he found it behind the music player. He opened it up and started to read.

"Dear Vegeta,
You are really something else you know that? I wasn't sure that you had it in you, but you proved me wrong. I'm normally never wrong and when I am I hate it, but this time I'm glad I was. I feel like this is the first time I'm meeting the real you, hence the reason why I picked this song. You defended our son in battle. Trunks told me as soon as he got me alone; he was so ecstatic and was truly happy. When Yamcha told him he said he knew you weren't the monster you claimed yourself to be. For a while you even had me believing you didn't care about any of us really… but that one thing showed me the reason why I love you. To be honest I was starting to forget why I cared for you, what made me love you the way I do. You had showed the others the exact reason why I love you and trust you. I know you might not want, nor care, but they all think of you as a friend now. They will always be there for you if you ever need it, I know you won't but that door is always opened for you. You are an amazing man Vegeta; you have people who care for you now. I care for you, our son cares, my parents and yes our friends. Like it or not but you have a family now. You will never be alone anymore, that I promise you.

Vegeta folded the paper and that's when he noticed that Bulma, with little baby Trunks in her arms, was in the room with him. He didn't know what to feel at that moment. Should he be angry that her and everyone else is giving him pity, or touched that she cares so much? He hung his head down a little bit and asked "why… why did you write me that?"

"If I had told you, then you wouldn't have listened to me." She was right, and he knew that there was no point in arguing that. He moved to the middle of the bed and crossed his legs, and put his hands on his knees. Bulma sat right across from him with Trunks in her lap. He was kicking his legs and waving his arms around trying to get Vegeta attention but of course, he simply ignored his son. There was still silence so Vegeta decided to listen to the last couple of seconds to the song.

"Oh these times are hard,
Yeah they're making us crazy
Don't give up on me baby" and then the music player had turned off.

"You shouldn't be so proud of me you know… I'm a failure."

"Vegeta you're anything BUT a failure. You gave it all you had to defeat Cell, all for our son."

"Lies. I should have been the one to defeat Cell. I should have been the strongest of all the warriors at that tournament. But instead I was out classed by that fool you called a friend and his son. And Kakorrott died. I have nothing worth fighting for, my honor died for good along with him."

"Ok you weren't strong enough to kill Cell but so what? You did you best and damn was it good. I know that if you practice and train, you'll pass Gohan and even Goku in no time! I believe in you Vegeta…and as for your pride it's not dead. It's right here." She said while lifting up trunks "He loves you more than anything Vegeta and I hope that one day he grows up to be at least half the man you are." Trunks broke free of his mothers grasp and crawled over to Vegeta, sat on his lap and reached for his hand. He wrapped his whole fist around his one finger. Vegeta finally looked down at his son and saw that he was smiling. He had the warmest smile he's ever seen in his entire life, and it was meant for him and just him.

"You know when I look at him I can see he shares the same pride as you in his eyes… he really is a mini you, minus the hair and eye color of course." She looked at him and smiled. He was beginning to wonder how he got so lucky in the first place, he was damn sure he didn't deserve it.

"I don't deserve you kindness so-"

"Da Dee. Da Dee!" Baby Trunks squealed while waving Vegeta's hand up and down.

"Oh did I forget to tell you, his first word was Daddy" she said but he paid her no mind. He had his gaze locked on his tiny son and smiled, even if it wasn't there for long. Trunks's eyes began to drift to sleep so he rested his head on Vegeta's chest and dozed off into his slumber. His heart jumped out of his chest. This was the first time he got to hold his son and it felt so… right. It scared him how much he loved the feeling of being so close to his son. Then Bulma sat next to him and placed her head on his shoulder.

"Things will get better Vegeta, I promise you it will."

"Bulma?"

"Yes?"

"Will you be my nothing?" he asked and Bulma could pick up the sound of worry in his voice. He was worried she would say no, and if she did he would really have nothing to live for. She and his son was all he had left, he knew he had to start cherishing them because if he didn't he might lose them and that was not an option.

"Of course I will" she hugged him as tight as she possibly could and they stayed like that for the rest of the night. For now everyone was at peace and she was hoping to keep it that way for as long as she could.
