looking good! How on earth did you do her dress patterning??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NatashaHutton In reply to Okarnillart [2010-06-12 11:17:56 +0000 UTC]

I lightly drew the outline of the pattern in a pencil and then coloured it in with colouring pencils. Basically the white and an under layer on the hair is gouache and then all the colour you see is colouring pencil

How did you manage the hair highlights?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NatashaHutton In reply to psionronin [2010-05-20 14:44:49 +0000 UTC]

It's a layer of gouache then colouring pencils ontop

psionronin In reply to NatashaHutton [2010-05-22 03:26:21 +0000 UTC]

so like you used a base yellow, then just layered the darks and highlights over that?

good stuff! I'm gonna have to try that. I have all these colored pencils and it never occurred to me to layer them.

Wow it's really good, brilliant in fact, but i always have found dolls a little bit haunting.
Nice use with the water colours!

Thankyou I love the fact that dolls are so haunting and eerie it makes them brilliant subjects to draw because it gives the image something more than just 'Oh its a pretty girl...that's nice....:/'

Permyxxx In reply to NatashaHutton [2010-05-04 20:01:01 +0000 UTC]

I agree, it gives the viewer more things to think about. But still i can't draw them as well as you! Your brilliant, can't wait til your next piece!
