Well the year started off kinda slow but this is the third deviation I've posted this month, which is really good for me, so things are starting to get back to normal.Hmm... this kinda looks a little familiar doesn't it? >>>[link]
Amazing what four years of practice will do for ya, huh kids?
Here Sally is tucking Tails in for night and reading him a tale from "Arabian Nights".
Tails' eyes gradually drift away from the printed page in a daydream as Sally's soothing voice recants a tale of a heroic blue hedgehog who finds a genie and begins a quest to save the world.
Sally enjoys these times as much as Tails does for it allows her to escape the pressures of the war and spend quality time with one she loves dearly. A memory of simpler times... An oasis for the spirit.
I'm actually considering doing a simple little one comic page sequel to this...
So what do you guys think?

I just wanted to make it clear that I did NOT create this to be a TailsXSally picture. Their relationship in this picture was intended to be a Mother/Son one. There's no romantic implications intended for this picture.

Cute but should the two really be mobian-naked (barefoot) together? It's cute though. ^^

Clothing on Mobians is fairly optional except for formal occasions or something that their bodyfur won't protect them from adequately like a fight with Robotnik's minons or thorny plants.
It kept getting added in the official cartoons (print and video) because Mobians are usually shown fairly human-like and people keep objecting to 'naked animals'. (There were objections on Donald Duck not wearing pants, for pity's sake, and he is quite obviously NOT human.) It's the same kind of silliness and lack of thinking that you find when people say a romantic relationship with a sentient anthro is 'bestiality'.Β
And as for the artwork itself, very good job at conveying the feeling of peace and safety. It really does make you feel like you're looking in the window at them.

The lighting, in my opinion, is what gives this picture such a strong impact.Β You really feel like there's a lantern or candle (or fireplace) just off-panel illuminating the room for the young fox who's turning in for the night, and Sally's weaving him a tale to soothe his mind into a restful night's sleep.
I didn't see any romantic overtones in this, as some may have.Β I agree that Sally is like a mother to the young Tails, at least within this continuity.

I've addressed this before in a previous comment but, it's Tails' hut and he's about to go to sleep so he wouldn't be wearing shoes. Also, Sally doesn't want to track mud on Tails' floor that's why she took her boots off at the door. As for her vest, that was a last minute creative decision. I'm not really good a drawing clothing yet, and I was even worse two years ago. I was worried that the vest would mask her figure, and at the time I was quite proud with how she turned out.

Yep, Sally has it tough. Not only does she have to lead the fight against Robotnik, but she's also been tasked with raising the younger generation as well. -That other side was what I chose to show in this picture.

I used to think of Sally like a mother figure, and to some extent I still do, but more and more my perception of Sally and Tails is shifting more to a young brother/ older sister relationship. But I guess it's irrelevant in the end.

Just like Tails' own perception of her, since he's older and knows that he has real parents and doesn't need either them or "Aunt Sally" doting on him anymore. That doesn't stop them or "big bro" Sonic from caring, though. XD

It looks amazing. The scene has such a warm and fuzzy look and feeling. I love the fact that they're both barefoot and Tails even has his gloves off - the "all-natural" look is awesome. I'd love to see more like this.
