Well As I heard the stages are all here right at the beginning of the game. It's only the characters that you need to unlock. In a specific order since they got numbers.

If that is the case then that is great to hear.
It's nice that the original 12 will be the starters
because it makes it more interesting to unlock
other characters as one has to work to get them.
It reminds me when one had unlock the secret
characters in Smash 64 and Melee.
