The description (or lack thereof) makes it look like you created this based on Handplates!Sans' design, but in reality, it looks like you cut this out of one of Zarla's animations:
Please credit her as the creator of this animation, instead of making it look like you animated it yourself based on her design. Thanks.

...
Um, not like um, Zarla is credited and it's bascially visible I made this out of this animation? (well of course I cut that off, like all icons from vids are made, lmao) Also not like Zarla is really popular and everybody knows it's hers, besides I'm not the only one making icons from Handplates, but ok, um, everybody has own ways of thinking.

It's easy to assume that everyone knows the things you know, but that assumption isn't always accurate. Not everyone has seen every popular piece of Undertale media out there, and unless someone's seen the original animation, they have no way of knowing from your description that she was the one who created it. As I said in my previous comment, that makes it look like you created the animation yourself while using her design. There's a difference between drawing fan art/animations, and using stuff other people have drawn while not making it clear that it wasn't you who drew it.
I'm not saying you're deliberately committing art theft; I'm just making you aware of the fact that if someone hasn't seen Zarla's animation, they might not realize she's the creator of the art in that icon, so it's better to state it clearly.

If a lot of people have a similar style, that's all the more reason NOT to assume that people will automatically know who used that style to create an animation or other piece of art. The style may not belong to a single person, but credit for a specific creation they made with it does. Does that make sense to you?

If it's your art, which you drew, then I don't think crediting them for having a similar style/inspiring your style is obligatory.
But if you cropped a piece out of someone else's art, which they drew, then you should definitely credit them, and I'd also recommend making it clear in your credits that it's something they drew, not something you drew based on their style/AU.

Yes, this particular icon was cropped out of an animation Zarla made. Here's the original:
I guess this conversation proves the point I made in my original comments: just because someone is super-popular, that doesn't mean everyone will recognize their art when they see it. I mean, it looks like you thought NatsuneNuko drew the icon, when in reality, Zarla did.
That's why it's important to state that the ARTWORK was created by someone else, not just the AU it's based on. To use this instance as an example: if you say "handplates is by Zarla", but DON'T say "this animation is by Zarla", that makes it look like you drew the animation based on Zarla's style and AU. And then the person who actually drew it doesn't get credit for their work.

If this is cropped out and taken from someone, yes credit the sourse
HOWEVER< if this was taken and edited, she doesnt need to credit the sourse, it belongs to her since shes parodied it
www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5ZmVh… Is a 20 long minute documentary on fair use.

It was cropped out of the original animation, and as far as I can tell, there were no edits aside from the cropping. That said, even if you're not legally obligated to say "somebody else drew this, I just chopped a piece out of it", IMO it's just basic decency.
I'm not really interested in having a protracted argument about it, or watching a 20-minute documentary about it, though I'm honestly very surprised that such a simple and reasonable request even sparked a disagreement. I'd thought it was pretty commonly agreed upon that if you use something someone else made, especially in a way that could make it look like you were the one who made it, you credit them for it as a matter of basic courtesy, even if it's not a legal requirement.
To be clear: I am not accusing NatsuneNuko of deliberate art theft, in case that's the reason for your zeal in insisting that credit isn't required. I was just pointing out that the type of credit that was originally given could leave people confused as to who actually created the animation. Proper credit has been added to the icon's description, so the matter of this icon has already been resolved.

Thank you. That does make it easier for people who haven't seen all of Zarla's stuff to tell who actually created the animation.

Y'know, stumbling upon this conversation again, I feel like I owe you an apology. My original comment looks a lot more confrontational and accusatory than I meant for it to sound.
While I still stand by the principle behind it, I definitely could have phrased it better instead of making it sound like I was accusing you of deliberately making it look like you were the one who made the animation based on Zarla's design. Sorry.

Whoops. Thanks for letting me know; I forgot DA doesn't notify everyone involved in the conversation like FB does.
NatsuneNuko , as I said in the comment you probably weren't notified about, I feel like I owe you an apology. My original comment about giving credit looks a lot more confrontational and accusatory than I meant for it to sound.
While I stand by the principle behind it (that the person giving credit needs to be clear that the art, not just the AU, belongs to the person they're crediting), I definitely could have phrased it better instead of making it sound like I was accusing you of deliberately making it look like you were the one who made the animation based on Zarla's design. I'm sorry.
