Thank you, good comments. I aggree, the gloves probably should have some shades too, to make them fit with the rest. Thanks for the tip!

Oh, wow, tack!!
Jag älskar skraffering/crosshatching, det gör som du skriver bilden mer... mogen liksom. Mindre cartoony och slät.
Tack så hemskt mycket, så glad att du gillar den! X3

rocking artwork as always, but the shading on this one totally blows my mind, especially her armour and the chainmail skirt. holy hell o_0
also her hair turned out nicely and the bow is a nice touch.
I really like her serene almost mediative face.
only point of critique really, is the grip of the sword, for a blade that size, it's kinda short =3
But that's nit picking

Thank you! I'm so glad you like it. (being one of my most tenacious critics)
Well, yes, maybe, but it's a quite thin and mid-length sword, so it's supposed to be a one-hand sword. But she tends to grip it with both her hands, for strenght.

hehe hope you don't mind the scrutiny
Not to split words, but I have a little experience with real swords (got some friends in the liveblade cicles, swung a few swords and axes). Now a girl of her size would need some serious muscle or excellent technique to use a sword that size with any efficiantcy, which is possible, but depends on how talented a warrior she is (but then again. It's manga, realisme is subjective and since you're drawing it, what you say goes )
BUT, just for reference, If you find yourself in Copenhagen, I recommend swinging by Tøjhus museet, they got the largest sword collection in scandinavia if memory serves

Cool, that sound awesome, I'll definately do that some day!
Well, she IS a Swords Princess, trained since she could walk and she lives in a world where matriarchy rules and women are brought up to fight and defend. So she has muscles.
Also, doesn't the weight of a Sword differ depending on what kind of materials is used?

It is beautiful! I think you have true talent. What I want to draw like that! I love every curl in her hair, and especially the great sword. This is drawn by hand, right? Where did you learn to draw?

Nattserier In reply to drawingdemon14 [2012-01-16 08:54:10 +0000 UTC]
Wow, thank you!!!
Yes, by hand. I use green leeds to make the sketch, and ink on top with steel nib (G-pen).
I have been practicing for a looong time. I have been drawing comics/manga for 12 years, professionally for 5 years. The best way to get good is just to draw alot, and practice different techniques. And remember to finish your pictures! A sketch is just a sketch, but if you ink it, scan it and color it, it is a finished artwork! And you will also learn more if you finish your art, plus get the awesome satisfaction of finishing stuff!

Oh gosh that looks very cool, definitely want to read it once it's out <3 I assume you're going to simplify the art a little for the comic itself, though? Mad props either way :')

Thanks, Maaria!
Well, no... >_<
I think I'm going to break myself over this one, hahaha. I want to have as much details as possible (before it's too much). Have you checked Kaori Mori's "A Brides Story"? It's really detailed but never too much. That's my goal!

Yeah, it totally is! Kaoru Mori is a genious, and her art is like fine dining for the mind!
I'll give you a heads up if I get anything out there, and then I'd love to hear what you think of it. Your honest opinion!

Wow. I am at a loss for words right now. Hair and clothing are impressive - the Sword almost seems too simple in comparsion. But... damn, this is very, very good!

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! (that was partly my misson, hehe)
Well, I guess that's good, because this is amied to girls and thus the hair and clothes are more important than the sword, I think. Or at least if you check the other fantasy shojo mangas...

Nawwww, uploaded it (partly) for me :3
I get the whole idea about the sword, and it looks very reminiscent of [link] which is very nice.
It's just that it doesn't look quite as detailed / worked out as the rest of the design.
How did you pick that particular type of blade? Have you considered other types? I think she might look good handling a Rapier [link] or maybe even a Foil [link] Can't help it, but she has something French/Renaissance-y going.

Nattserier In reply to Aulbath [2012-01-16 09:07:28 +0000 UTC]
Yes, but I don't want the sword to be to historical, because that would ruin the story-book feeling, I think. I also don't want it to be too light or too heavy. It needs to be big enough to kill a dragon with, and I'm affraid a Rapier or a Foil might take too much time, just giving the dragon stab wounds. But I don't want the sword to be a typical oversized asian styled sword, because she should be able to carry it with her all the time, without looking like a total boffer-freak (if you get what I'm at).
The design was made in a haste, I confess, but I though it worked...?
