Haha, I love the expression. It's a well shaded, in proportion piece with good use of colours on the monkey itself. The piece really gives me a feel of the attitude and personality of the monkey through that expression and also the position of the monkey: the sort of casual feeling of him hanging off of the vine.
It might look slightly better with a light background, but that depends entirely on what kind of background and the depth of the background you choose (obviously you don't want too busy a background, as that'd detract attention from the foreground).
All in all... good one!
