Not sure I am entirely happy with this one. I about scrapped it.My reference picture printed super darkly so I had trouble seeing specific details :/ And spent a good deal of time running between the computer and my favorite chair to fix things.
Thanks to mum though for all the help!
So I'm not sure quite how I feel about this one...

it's really great, except the nose is a bit too small. snape has a rather large nose

I think it's one of the coolest things I've seen in a long while! You don't get too much actually hand-to-paper artwork on here, so it's good to see. I really like how realistic and detailed it is. Bloody brillliant.

I like the books in the background and the clothes of Severus Snape. However I am surprised about the nose and the mouth of the person because it looks quite warped. Nevertheless you did a good white and black contrast.

It's much better than I could ever do but I can see why you'd be unhappy with it. The nose seems slightly off and the features to the right of the nose seem off as well though I don't know how you would fix it. To be honest I am think his lips are suppose to be closed when I stare at them but if I'm looking at another part of the picture it looks like they might be slightly open. Hope this helps

Yeah, the nose and the space below it ended up being bigger problems than I anticipated, though every time I tried to fix them, they seemed to get worse?
They're slightly (annoyingly) open in the reference picture and there were a couple of arguments about how far they should be open on the finished piece.

sorry, but i cant afford a subscription lol...
this is a very lovely job of rendering snape's personality.. love the hair, his signature black cloak, top notch stuff! however, i would say the space between nose and upper lip may be slightly large for the face.. this might be supplying that uneasy feeling you have about this piece.... but be encouraged!; my art professor once said that the nose is the most common thing to go wrong when producing a portrait.. i made johnny depp look jewish once!
outside of that, again i say wonderful piece! continue the great work!

Thank you very much for your encouragement! I was worried that the space was too big but fixing it somehow made other problems haha. My mother said noses are the hardest to draw as well ^_^

i havent done any drawing for quite awhile, but i never liked doing portraits.... too much can go wrong for me to be comfortable with it..lol esp.f the subject is really self-concious..lol

I hadn't drawn much either since probably earlier in the year (as I pretty much hated art school and the long distances several times a week to get there) but I've always preferred portraits to still life haha

im honestly more into painting and photography.. my paintings RARELY have an under-drawing, and by definition of its name, photography is pretty much "letting light do all the drawing for you"..lol
