Description Took this the other day after work. The Monarch butterfly is just about ready to emerge....I love how you can see it's color pattern through the shell.Neat how it's all folded up inside this chrysalis.

went back the next day and it had already hatched out and left. I was hopping to get a pick of it with the wings still folded up outside of the case......oh well ...always next year, as this season is just about over and I haven't found any more of these.

okay, i am jealous . . . i got a few hundred shots of monarchs this year (adults and caterpillars) and could not find one single chrysalis . . . kudos to you!

Hi Tom, Yeah I had a great year with these butterflies... I found 3 of these, but never got the shot of one outside after hatching... when I get that shot I will have the whole life cycle sequence of the Monarch in pictures!
