Hi, While cutting across the fields coming out of the marsh, I spotted this butterfly. It was feeding on this bush,that had a fungus of some type on it.. it was licking up the moisture from this stuff.

 After finding this one, I spotted another on a similar bush nearby. This one was in much better condition wing wise, so I'm only posting one pic.

 Neat to see the butterflies after the long and brutally cold winter months

Great shot, think it may be an Eastern Comma (Polygonia comma)

That's what I thought at first, but it matches my Butterfly guide for the Question mark butterfly..... fringe color and wing spots...they all lined up for the Question mark.

Now I'm embarrassed, I've never heard of a question mark butterfly and thought you meant you didn't know what type it was! 😳🤭😂Sorry!

Hey, Don't be embarrassed... That's why I invested in a few Insect guide books...takes the guess work out of giving an ID to  these many Butterflies and Moths.

 Even with the books, I still find some that are a mystery

Hi Penny, Oh yeah...warm temps..birds raising the young... and now the Butterflies are starting to show up.


Took a trip to a Polish Deli this morning.... it's just over the state line from me,about 40 minutes away. Picked up some pirogi's, a few different type of Kielbasa... all smoked on site. tonight's dinner is going to be

cheese potato and onion pirogi's  some double smoked Kielbasa aside dish of boiled cabbage with butter and caraway seed flavorings .....can't wait to try that kielbasa....it has to be so much better than what you get in the supermarket. it wasn't to expensive, so If the family likes it.. well once a month I'll be going back to buy more. When I was in Europe...I loved to try out all the different ethnic foods they had in the open air markets.
