I don't think he knows him and Karin are related. I mean the way Naruto cares about Sarada and looks out for her, like how he helped her when she was freaking out over her family and Naruto encouraged her to base "family" off feelings, not blood.

I agree with you about potential that Shippuuden had, but Kishi did mistake at end of first series...he let Sasuke live, if Naruto would kill him then Shippuuden would be much better.
