Description Okay so everybody on DA has a cat photo in their gallery and I just couldn't resist putting this one up.

The cat is one of my neighbours. I actually think they are Hippies but I'm not sure about that. Anycase this poor kitty is always running up and down the street with the bell around his neck catching ones ear. When he sees you have noticed him he does the cutes routine when asking for food or attention.

Shot taken with a Nikon D300 & 50mm F/1.8 D continuous focus on 3D tracking mode.
Converted to B&W with the awesome new conversion tool in Capture NX2. Added frame and sharpening in Photoshop CS2

Most people have a cat picture on their gallery, even I do!

But if it's a good photo like this, it's never enough cat pics!

I love this - the composition is wonderful, and the "framing" with the plants looks superb.

Yup, The new generation of Nikon's sure are wonderful. So your saving up for a D3? I'd really like one but I hear it collects alot of dust on the sensor fast. With the D300 that really isn't a problem for me anymore. I have had it since December and it only shows very small dust spots at F/45 which says alot because I change lenses quite frequently

I would love a D3, but they are too expensive. I'm rather hoping that the next gen (D400?) will have the full-frame sensor at a more reasonable price
F/45 - huh? What lens do you have that stops-down to F/45?

It would be really nice if Nikon did bring out a Dxxx series camera with Full frame with the sensor cleaning but I'm not so sure we will see that anytime soon. The Nikkor 105mm VR micro lens actually stop down all the way to F/57

You are probably right, they wouldn't sell many D3's (D4's?) if they bring out a full-frame Dxxx. Shame.
F/57 - cool! My Sigma 105 macro only stops down to F/32, and image quality is poor at f/32 so I never stop-down beyond f/22

Yeah anything over f/22 is working heavily against diffraction.

Well IF Nikon plays it right they might just be able to pull it off almost like canon. The D300 & D3 are very sports orientated. I have a feeling they will bring out a D3x out shortly with the new 24 megapixel Sony chip which won't be able to do high speed shooting or handle high ISO as well as the D3. Which would actually leave a nice gap for a D300x??? or something which will use the sensor from the D3 but It will probably only offer 3fps or something along the lines of the canon 5D. It's exactly what canon has been doing and seeing as they are losing alot of the market share recently with all the quality control issues I wouldn't be surprised if Nikon goes exactly that route

Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about the "s" and "x" business and it makes sense to ramp up the mpix to compete with the 1dsmkIII. A D300?? with an fx sensor, even if slow (I don't need high fps), would be very sweet.

If it is priced right I would be all over it!

BTW really like your signature

Yeah, me too. I would guess same price as the intro price for the D300, maybe a little more...
The sig - thank you
